Sales is the key to growth for any business. Without sales, you don’t have revenue. Without revenue, you cannot succeed. Which is why sales is constantly on my mind these days. Juniper is growing rapidly, and I’m spearheading our sales boost. But I’m doing this as trategically as possible, because we’re getting to that tipping point -- the point at which we need to scale our sales team proportionately to manage the volume of business. So, here’s my plan: 1. Document document document. I’ve been working diligently to document every step I take in the sales process. Document all notes and conversations in our CRM. And generally solidify our sales process, so that when I bring someone new into the sales team, onboarding and training is streamlined and efficient. 2. Learn as much as possible. I am in learning mode. Big time. Sales comes naturally to me, but I’m well aware that it’s also an art and a science. So, I’ve been reading, consuming content, etc. My next goal is to attend a sales conference or seminar to level up my skills even more. So I ask: What is the best sales training you’ve experienced? Best sales reads? Best sales trainers? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. That bittersweet part of sales training... … as the programme draws to a close 6 or 12 weeks is long time to work with people It takes that long to get stuff done Time to introduce ideas Time to apply them It is also time to get close to people As we got to the end of a Collaborative Selling Sprint this week I asked participants to summarise what they are taking away from different elements of the VALUE Framework Here is their response 🔸 Validate (right opportunities) - Understand the customer; establish what is important - Relate customer to industry developments and challenges - Understand relationship roles and responsibilities 🔸 Align (right research) - See their perspective; WIIFM - Manage expectations - Win-win; interdependence 🔸 Leverage (right conversations) - Know customer priorities - Identify key individuals and roles - Address needs and concerns for each person 🔸 Underpin (right solution) - Understand what the customer needs to know - Act with the customer’s priorities at heart - Recognise roadblocks and overcome together; MAPs 🔸 Evolve (right results) - Negotiate to a mutual success - Become trusted advisor/expert in their industry - Gather and act on feedback I’m chuffed to bits that they are taking away the shift in focus needed to be successful today 🧡 Away from own company/product and towards customer/problem 🧡 They singled this out as the biggest ‘aha-moment’ of all The tools and techniques we covered support this throughout the sales cycle So on one hand I’m sad to lose regular contact with the team On the other I’m pleased that they are taking this approach into their contact with customers What (or who) is your prime sales focus? #sales #salestraining #collaborativeselling (I will be sharing this thinking in next week's free workshop 'How to win more business with a modern sales blueprint')
