QMines Limited (ASX:QML) is a step away from securing a formal mining lease for the Mt Chalmers Copper and Gold Project near Rockhampton in central Queensland, having submitted a lease application following positive feedback from the Queensland Department of Resources. Mining lease number ML 100403 has been allocated to the project. In April, the company delivered a pre-feasibility study for Mt Chalmers, as well as a maiden ore reserve estimate in the proved and probable categories of 9.6 million tonnes at 0.65% #copper, 0.27% #zinc, 4.3% sulphur, 0.48 g/t #gold and 5.2 g/t #silver. In total, the project’s ore reserves are estimated to contain 62,600 tonnes of copper, 25,700 tonnes of zinc, 147,600 ounces of gold, 1.553 million ounces of silver and 418,000 tonnes of sulphur. It’s been a long time since a #copper and #gold mine has opened in #Wyoming. The state, renowned for its diverse mineral deposits and unique geology, plays a vital role in supplying raw materials for various industries and energy development. In a nod to the historical Gold Rush era, small miners continue to stake claims on public lands in search of precious minerals, adding a modern chapter to the state's mining legacy. Just outside of the state’s capitol, Cheyenne, work is progressing on what could be the state’s first copper and gold mine in decades. The CK gold project is a large-tonnage, gold-copper deposit featuring some of the best grade mineralization right at surface and a surrounding extensive lower-grade zone with potential for resource expansion. Discovered in 1881, the deposit underwent limited mining but gained attention through various exploration phases. Currently, Australia has just one operational manganese mine, but the east Pilbara region hosts some of the largest onshore deposits in the country. Brendan Cummins, Managing Director of Black Canyon Limited, tells Mining.com.au this is why the company has been able to efficiently grow the global Balfour Manganese Field resource from 15 million tonnes in 2021 to over 300 million tonnes in 2023 through just three drill programs totalling 20,064m. Strong momentum in copper pricing prompted the company to take a closer look at the copper mineralisation near Sandiego, which already holds a mineral resource estimate of 4.1 million tonnes at 1.4% copper, 4.3% #zinc, 0.2 g/t #gold, 25 g/t #silver and 0.4% #lead. Previous drilling revealed high-grade copper mineralisation up to 5 metres at 1.37% copper from 50 metres of depth and 2 metres at 1.71% copper from 85 metres, 700 metres to the north of Sandiego.
