Process Mining without people? Not a good idea. You need a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help you to gain the initial understanding of the process how it *really* works -and not just what someone might have drawn in a diagram- and where to find the corresponding data. The promise of Process Mining is to have a data-driven approach to process analysis and improvement. But that doesn't mean you don't need people. You will need subject-matter experts who are working in the process, but also in IT to find the right data that will be used when assembling the data model that goes into your process mining tool. The way how we have created data models for process mining in the past were never easy to do for regular Business Analysts - learning how to use SQL is not for the faint of heart if you are a people person and have used easy-to-use reports or simulation tools for process analysis in the past. But there are different ways of doing this out there. One of it is using specialized Process Mining Data Tools like Konekti, which is one part of our conversation with Lotte Vugs. But we also talk more broadly about process mining and the challenges that one encounters in a process mining project.
