Process Mining without people? Not a good idea. You need a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help you to gain the initial understanding of the process how it *really* works -and not just what someone might have drawn in a diagram- and where to find the corresponding data. This is one of the takeaways of our conversation with Lotte Vugs in our latest episode about Process Mining Data. Oh, people ... And then, it is all about people when it comes to processes - not only when designing or automating them, but also when it comes to a seemingly data-driven technology like process mining. The people are the ones who will make your process mining project make or break, because they can point you in the right direction where to find the data for the *real* process ... not the one that someone thinks exists, but the one that is executed by a lot of people in your organization day-by-day. This is one of the things J-M and I learned from Lotte Vugs, the guest in our latest What's Your Baseline? podcast. Listen to the full interview with her wherever you get your podcasts now. The promise of Process Mining is to have a data-driven approach to process analysis and improvement. But that doesn't mean you don't need people. You will need subject-matter experts who are working in the process, but also in IT to find the right data that will be used when assembling the data model that goes into your process mining tool. In this week's episode we are speaking with Lotte Vugs from Konekti about the challenges of creating the needed data model, and strategies on how to do it, while also managing the time needed to create, so that you have more time for your analysis in your project. The way how we have created data models for process mining in the past were never easy to do for regular Business Analysts - learning how to use SQL is not for the faint of heart if you are a people person and have used easy-to-use reports or simulation tools for process analysis in the past. But there are different ways of doing this out there. One of it is using specialized Process Mining Data Tools like Konekti, which is one part of our conversation with Lotte Vugs. But we also talk more broadly about process mining and the challenges that one encounters in a process mining project. Oh, podcasts! 🎙✨ Ideal to consume, challenging to create, much like #eventlogs for #processmining. But thanks to the brilliant guidance of Roland Woldt and J-M Erlendson, I'm looking back with a little pride on my podcast debut in which we discussed Konekti. Curious about why #datapreparation takes so much time in a #processmining project, and how to fix it? Episode 63 "Process Mining Data" of What's Your Baseline is now online!
