Nothing ever goes wrong in a procurement process right? Or does it? Despite the best procurement strategy, things can happen that you simply cannot plan for. How you handle responding can significantly impact the integrity of the procurement process, or at the very least, the public’s perception. That’s why it is critical to embrace the awkward and address things head on. Joining the “awkward conversation committee” is uncomfortable, but necessary. I invite you to join Sulie (Zulay) V. Millan, NIGP-CPP, CPPO, CPPB and I at our session on Monday, May 20th at the upcoming Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials Annual Conference where we will introduce case studies that delve into the awkward. In ths interactive session, will discuss response strategies as well as actions to consider to mitigate agaisnt occurrences in the future. Get ready to get awkward! #FAPPO #letsgetawkward #procurement

Something for the weekend? Shall we take a break from the Procurement Act 2023 for a moment? There are so many topics to talk about in the world of public sector procurement, so today I turn my attention and cartoonists eye to procurement plans and pipelines. In my view establishing a procurement plan within an organisation (to ensure it is a true representation of the projects on the horizon) procurement and their internal customers must work closely together, and understand and respect each other. For me this is about mutual Education, frequent two way Communication and balanced and professional Collaboration. The size of the organisation and their current buying needs will dictate the shape and size of the plan and the teams supporting it, but I will: - engage with my departments to ensure we understand each other’s constraints, priorities and ways of working - create an agreed plan but accept it is live and needs feeding regularly - meet regularly to ensure we are on track I know it is simple when I type it into LinkedIn, and I know it can often go astray (and I have some superb stories!), but I have also been part of many engagements where this has worked really well with some mutual effort. So of course I drew a cartoon. I hope you enjoy it and as always please comment and share and spread the smiles.

Full Steam Ahead! Pareto has just wrapped up its latest project at Leeds Train Station, working alongside our fantastic partners CrossCountry Trains and The Consortia Group The goal of the project? To revamp the office space at one of Leeds' busiest stations. Pareto not only delivered but completed the project a whole week ahead of schedule! None of this would've been possible without the hard work and dedication of our incredible team, including our dedicated local staff. Their expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence truly shined through, making this project a huge success. CrossCountry Senior Procurement Manager Paul Crowley, MCIPS. (Chartered Status ) FCILT, CIWFM had this to say about the project: “Pareto provides local support to ensure that management are involved in the scope of work decisions. Neil managed the project with Adam locally ensuring that the work was carried out safety and efficiently, with minimum disruption to the site. An excellent job well done.” Pareto Senior Account Manager Daniel Wright had some great comments about the team and all involved: "This is another great example of collaboration and partnership. The project specification was clearly defined by our client, then efficiently delivered by Neil, his team and the supporting service providers. These types of projects can often be problematic but was delivered safely, proficiently and on budget by all parties involved" We believe in the power of teamwork and strong partnerships, and this project is a perfect example of what can be achieved when we all work together towards a common goal. A massive thank you to everyone who played a part in making this project a reality, it’s your adaptability, dedication, and passion to get the job done that are at the heart of our business. #FacilitiesTransformation | #CrossCountry | #Consortia | #PeopleMakePlaces | #Facman | #ChangingTheFaceofFM | #MoreThanJustFM | #CareersInFM | #FacilitiesManagement
