Another character design from last year. I love to paint characters realistically with a lot of details but on this one I tried to hold back and make it look more semi realistic. #conceptart #conceptartist #characterdesign #characterconcept #digitalart

When was the last time you experimented with something and surprised yourself with the result? I’ll share one of my favorite examples. The shot below is from my short, “Elsewhere” - the main character is skydiving over Oakland, then transitions into a 2001: A Space Odyssey stargate-inspired sequence. I’m proud of this shot because it was the result of an experiment inspired by 2001’s practical execution. In the film’s behind-the-scenes, they showed how they filmed the sequence using a technique called slit scanning. They shined a sequence of images and/or lights through a tiny cut in a board, set the camera to a low shutter speed, and moved it slowly towards the light to make glowing streaks from the motion. I played around by imitating the same technique in a 3D space and surprisingly, after some trial and error, it worked! It was one of my first experiences experimenting in 3D and I was hooked. I’m excited to share more examples of what I’m working on! How about you, have you ever experimented and surprised yourself with the result? Hey boys and girls, this is my last work-in-progress post. The next post to follow will be my final reveal. The illusion and flow of the raindrops are all procedurally based. The ocular area of the mask will be replaced with a cloth material as depicted in the movie. As for the torn cloth, I originally thought that a mask would do the trick only to discover that when I apply a solidify modifier to the mesh, it creates a 2-layer system (2 planes) leaving the edges completely exposed. So, the alternative I found was to edit the mesh geometry and cut those details using the knife tool. One error on my side was that the motion of my camera was set to Linear instead of Bezier hence the rigid transition but apart from that I am extremely pleased with my progression. I had a blast with this project and the journey was an enduring and satisfying experience. As with every new project, I always push myself to explore deeper and more meaningful ways to enhance my digital art. You’ll never know your boundaries unless you give yourself a chance. Who knows, you might just impress yourself. Whenever I master a certain skill, I try not to stay in that comfort zone for too long. Our brains need nurturing and care. Thank you all for the wonderful comments received in my previous posts and for staying with me thus far. I’m well aware that not all audiences are fond of WIP posts and would rather see the final instead. This is something that I will change for future projects. Speaking of future projects, I have some awesome titles to look forward to such as Edward Scissorhands, Devil May Cry, and Sons of Cronus. On a last note, the idea for adding rain was an inspiration obtained from The Last of Us Part II when you view Abby’s 3D character model. It’s so cool to orbit around the character whilst raindrops are running dynamically down Abby’s skin. Anyway, stay safe guys, and may God bless you all. #blender3d #b3d #3d #3dcharacter #3dmodel #buck120 #ghostface #knive #scream #blenderartists #blendercommunity #zbrush #artoftheday #characterdesign #madewithblender #digitaldesign #conceptart

Here's another look at my current 3D Character project! It's my take on Bogdan Rezunenko's Mortal Shell Fanart, Chaser. (Amazing concept art!) : Gonna be taking a hiatus to sculpt some more organic characters. :) Can't wait to see how this character turns out when I finish optimizing it! : Check out the full WIP post on my ArtStation: https://lnkd.in/gUJZQiBe #technology #creativity #characterart #zbrush

Page 25 of a 36 page comic in the Dangerlove's Mysteries series! I'm using assets from my decade old collection of 3D models along with Clip Studio Paint to quickly block out panels in a storyboard sketch workflow. It makes it very easy to get the right camera angles.😁 #comic #storyboard #clipstudiopaint

Shifting gears on my color grading! While I normally keep Redshift renders clean and tweak curves in After Effects with a touch of film grain, I'm aiming for a more analogue look here. This includes experimenting with halation, glow, and film simulations. I'm finishing the illustration and will share it soon! #C4D #redshift #redshift3d #cinema4d #artdirection #3Dart
