We are big fans of Polish cinema posters, and Anna Huskowa’s Dumbo (1961) is a beautiful example of the Signal to Noise principle in action. By honing in on Dumbo’s oversized ears and wide, innocent eyes, the poster conveys a sense of wonder and vulnerability with minimal design. The absence of unnecessary detail allows viewers to connect with Dumbo’s essence immediately, making the emotional impact even stronger. This approach to design—focusing on what matters most and cutting through the noise—speaks to the power of simplicity.
