My first new undergraduatessession as Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information (FCSIT), UPM ! We had planned for the event for a substantial amount of time. It was an event that I have considered as a defining moment both for the new students and lecturers. Our Team worked relentlessly to ensure that the program was complemented by an environment that provided an ambience that instilled pride, excitement and most importantly to inspire the students to reach the greatest of heights! Thank you dear Team FSKTM for being amazingly great. We did several things that we felt was evolving based on a good past but that required changes that reflected the changing ecosystem we belong to. Among which : 1) The Dean’s session involved a personalised introduction of “your team” relating that the management was the students team member. I felt its important for each management team was known to all of them. Management was expanded to all unit heads, coordinators. 2) No “Perakan masuk” of Faculty Management. I related to my Team that we go in with the students. We have to earn our respect and our management must Not necessary for them to stand when we come in. The day someone stands on their own when they see us it will mean more than anything because we earned it. 3) Student Council was given a session and the slot was right after Dean’s session. This is to ensure that we empower student leaders 4) I had a special session explaining the profound meaning of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer. The deep meaning of acquiring of Doctor of Philosophy and the significance a “Dr” title has. I hoped it makes the student want to aspire to become PhD holders. 5) Though the “stage” was relatively small, we changed the seating of the management to face the students as opposed to us facing the screen. Small change but made us feel so engaged and we could learn a lot because we could capture the expression of the students and learnt what related to them for future enhancements 6) I showed them our mapping of our University’s True North to the Faculty’s Strategic Plan. They are critical in this equation and its of paramount importance that the understand all components at all tiers have to cohesively work in solidarity. 7) special thanks to Nor Zack Catering for helping us pack the food into our special bag we made for the students. A lot is reflected in the manner we serve food and the respect it entails. We did many other things which in whole we hope will make us better and inspire the students to aspire to be the best version of themselves!

Being present is one of the most meaningful way to express respect for someone. Yesterday, I spent the entire day at this cool 😎 workshop on Graduate Employability specially for the dynamic and awesome Assoc Prof Dr Hizma Madzin, the Director of Centre of Entrepreneurship (CEM)! Dr Hizma is a cherished member of our Faculty of Computer Science and IT and I was as always so impressed with the entire workshop. Was also so very proud to meet my dear buddy Dr Madhavan Nair . Super proud of you Mad! CEM gave us FCSIT the honour to share our good practices and we decided the best person to do that would be the head of the Industrial Training and Career to represent her team on their outstanding job Dr Salfarina. We also introduced the little lady who is the pulse behind the scene Nurul Ayuni Mohd Nor! Its always so very important to remember and value every single person within the system especially when we shine ! 🤗❤️

Super Proud to have had a huge Team for us to strive for an esteemed accreditation from MDEC Premier Digital Tech Institutions (PDTI). Many of us are are fortunate because we get to reflect our work in many visible forms like when we present. However, the pulse of this entire effort comes from those who have worked so very hard behind the scenes. The group photo is reflective of these wonderful people. Thank you to MDEC and their esteemed panel for giving us an opportunity to seek this accreditation that has great meaning. Our humble and gratitude to Prof Dato Dr Ahmad Farhan, VC and Prof Dr Ismi Arif, DVC and UPM Management for the enormous support from the very first day the journey started. We bow down and seek everyone’s doa for this effort to be reflected with the accreditation.

The magic and significance of English in the world of computing. Communication is everything in life! Language has its distinct beauty in expressing itself when one honours it by learning and practising well. In partnership with the Faculty’s Welfare and Social Club, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology we are proud to organize our first workshop in enhancing the magic of English! Who better to trust this important journey than my dearest sister Dr Umi Abdul Manaf who is an extraordinary personality with so much accomplishments in this field! Thank you dear Umi for obliging our humble request to partner with us. The workshop is open for everyone and we’re limiting the participation to ensure the best of quality is extended during the workshop. Both modes are being deployed online and physical!
