Key lesson from my indigenous course: ⬇ 🙏 "The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action (2015) highlight the need to reduce health inequities experienced by Indigenous peoples, to value and provide access to Indigenous healing approaches, and to ensure health care providers are trained in “intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism”

Pakistan's population growth rate continues to be one of the highest in South Asia. At the same time, Pakistan has the lowest Human Capital Index Value (HCI) in the region. To meet the needs of our existing population & support future generations, Pakistan must learn from other emerging economies and manage its population growth rate. May 27 marks the start of National Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme #NowMoreThanEver is a reminder to all of us to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can actively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and futures. Recently, our Partner Organisation Monash University shared a few resources to to help us understand how we can apply Indigenous knowledge to today’s health system. For thousands of generations, our First Peoples have been caring for the health of our communities and the environment. But their voices have been silenced and knowledge disregarded since colonisation. These papers provide lessons for all of us working in (and outside of) the health and medical research ecosystem, and we urge you to take a peek when you have some time https://shorturl.at/JLNX0 We must listen to the wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to forge a sustainable future that benefits our entire nation. 🖤💛❤️ #NRW2024 | Reconciliation Australia

It is a busy week for European demography: Overcoming Crises. Shaping Policy for an Uncertain Future. Tune into the Berlin Demography Days https://lnkd.in/dQ2cwM5S #bocconi Università Bocconi #resilience #crisismanagement #crisisleadership
At FutuRes, we focus on institutional rather than individual resilience. Our research points to a need for resilient political institutions. While people are indeed incredibly resilient, they cannot be asked to "bounce back" from every shock and crisis all on their own. Organisations are needed on regional, national and global levels, which are designed to take on every conceivable next shock, be it a challenge stemming from #climatechange, #ageingpopulation, #migration or other processes. Which institutions serve this purpose already? Which ones can we improve? What do we lack? Do we need crisis ministries? FutuRes Head of Research Arnstein Aassve will discuss with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Director Florence Bauer, Policy Specialist Bernard Onyango of the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and Daniel Mucha of the German Ministry of the Interior (Division KM 1 - General Policy; National Crisis Management). The discussion is held online, participants are invited to contribute questions to the panelists.
