Championship teams have championship teammates. I am an old coach and love hearing sentences like this. Tony Vitello is the head coach of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville baseball team. They won the college world series last night in dramatic fashion. Their team has been #1 a good portion of the year and he is an extraordinary coach. Take a peek at your team. Whether you are winning or losing much of the reason is because of your teammates. When we hire here at The Mullings Group, we look for individuals that thrive at being on a team. People that love to practice and play - together. You can see it when people celebrate for someone else or support them when things do not go their way. It perpetuates our high retention rate and encourages others to want to join. What questions can you ask during an interview to determine if someone is a championship teammate? Ask for specific examples of times they were on teams personally or professionally. What was memorable about that experience? What role did each person play? See how much they speak about themselves vs the team. What did the team do well? Where were there areas for improvement? What were the teams' successes? How? What were the teams' disappointments/obstacles? Why? How did the team make decisions? What did you feel when you joined that team? What did you feel when you left that team? Congratulations to Women's Basketball!! The 2023-2024 season will be looked back on as the year that took the Women's game to another level, thanks in large part to Caitlin Clark!!! She's definitely one of the GOATs and has cemented her place in history. It was also another opportunity to witness the greatness of Coach Staley! Coach Dawn Staley demonstrates fantastic leadership lessons on the regular. This interview following yesterday's Final Four Championship win showcases 3 lessons we can all learn from: ❤️ Psychological Safety: According to InnerDrive, "athletes in a psychologically safe environment are genuinely interested in their teammates, have positive intensions towards one another, as well as a mutual respect for others’ competence, especially when mistakes are made." South Carolina lost all 5 starters from last year and the bench scored 37 points in the final this year. No team had made it to the final without at least 1 returning starter and 37 points from the bench, the most in 25 years. Coach Staley was concerned about their level of "being free/loose" in the locker room prior to the game, but let this team be them and was willing to see what would happen when the game started. It didn't go well, so Coach and her staff made some adjustments to get them back on track. 🙌🙌🙌Publicly giving Credit where it's due: Coach Staley was quick to give credit to their new Asst Coach, Winston Gandy, credit for the scouting report and preparation prior to the final. "He was a difference maker." 👏👏👏Prioritize what's Most important: Coach Gandy did such a thorough job scouting that when they were making adjustments during the game, he provided the staff with so many ways they should adjust which caused a bit of overwhelm for the group. Coach Staley listened to all of them, but ultimately stepped in to have the team focus on Big Adjustments. Ultimately someone (head coach/director/VP/CEO) needs to make a decision when there are so many options on the table and get the team behind those decisions.

We would play a team better than us, to learn where we had to go (we usually lost). Then we would play a team we were ahead of, to see how far we had come (we always won). Then we played a team at our level where the outcome was uncertain (we won some, we lost some). We will pick the best athletes. Tests at the Combine- 1. 40 Yard Dash 2. 20 Yard Backward Run 3. Push-Ups - How many can be done in one minute 4. Jump Rope Skips- How many can be done in one minute. 5. Crunches- How many can be done in one minute. 6. Side-to-side Hop- How many can be done in one minute. The best 40 women who scored the highest will be chosen as players for the Ann Arbor Jaguars.
