The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) has approved £9.5million in funding to go to local projects that will help support economic growth for the region. Up to £1 million will be used for The Avenue in Wingerworth, a major clean-up project that has turned one of Europe’s most polluted sites into sports fields, a nature reserve, and housing. The funding will help build a new southern entrance to improve access for cars and pedestrians and support future development. You can read more here: https://zurl.co/Qo3UA

Imagine if Councils spent less on court cases and more on good planning application administration. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳 (except the planning lawyers!). We'd have more homes, faster and cheaper. We urgently need to bring: ✅pragmatism; ✅an understanding of the importance of time; and ✅a "getting to yes" approach to the way Councils and authorities approach planning applications. We just completed a comprehensive Berkadia Carolinas Build-to-Rent Market Report. Here are key takeaways for several of the top metros in NC/SC: 1. Greenville, SC: The Greenville SC market was one of the early BTR adaptors – there is more stabilized BTR product in Greenville, SC than in Raleigh or Charleston by a wide margin. However, the pipeline has effectively shut off. 2. Raleigh/Durham: Raleigh has notably less BTR product than Charlotte, by a more than 2-to-1 margin. 3. Charlotte: There are more BTR units under construction in Charlotte than in Raleigh’s entire pipeline (existing, lease up, and under construction combined). 4. Asheville: There is very, very little BTR product in Asheville as a percentage of rental inventory -- providing a significant development opportunity. 5. Wilmington: There are more BTR assets in Wilmington that are in lease up right now than there are in Raleigh -- and 7 communities alone in Leland.
