What a great day! WSU Tech held a grand reopening and ribbon cutting for their newly renovated City Center Campus Automotive Center. The Automotive Center is home to their Automotive Technology program that allows students to gain skills and knowledge to repair and service vehicles of all types including cars, trucks, semis, electric, alternative fueled, and construction equipment. The project included renovation of existing garage spaces, a paint booth area, and classroom areas. PEC is proud to have worked with our partners TESSERE on this project by providing electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering services. Congratulations to WSU Tech and their students on a beautiful facility! #PEC #LifeEngineered #WSUTech

🚀 Excited to share our groundbreaking capstone project in Mechanical Engineering! 🛠️ As team lead of the UT Team, with our partners C&W Services, tackling the challenge of noisy and bacteria-prone icemakers in the DFW area was both a thrilling and rewarding endeavor. 🏗️ After receiving consistent complaints from our clients, we approached the Directors at UTD with a mission: to engineer a solution that would mitigate noise and bacterial buildup in icemakers. 💡 Fast forward two intensive semesters of development, and we've emerged with a cutting-edge two-part prototype that's set to revolutionize the industry. 🔄 Addressing Bacterial Build-up: Drawing on industry standards, we integrated UVC light technology into our electronic system, which operates based on two pivotal events: ice detection and door opening. This not only ensures effective bacterial elimination but also prioritizes safety by mitigating the risk of prolonged exposure to UVC light. 🦠💡 Tackling Noise Pollution: Recognizing the importance of preserving the aesthetics of icemakers, we opted for a passive noise reduction approach. Through rigorous testing, we identified key noise reduction-materials as optimal, significantly reducing noise levels by up to 50%. Additionally, we introduced a muffler for the exhaust vent and a food-grade mat to dampen the noise of ice hitting the bucket's bottom, ensuring a quieter user experience. 🔇 This capstone project exemplifies our commitment to innovation, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration. I'm immensely proud of our team's dedication and the impactful solutions we've delivered. 💪 Looking ahead, I'm excited to see how these advancements will shape the future of icemaker technology, setting new standards for efficiency, safety, and user experience. 🚀✨ #MechanicalEngineering #Innovation #Teamwork #EngineeringSolutions #UTD #DFWArea #IceMakerTechnology #CWServices

World Engineering Day – The Future Is In Safe Hands 4th March 2024, World Engineering Day is a celebration of Engineering and the Built Environment. It highlights the Impact Engineering has on Society. Engineering is something that must be cultivated from a young age; inspiring youngsters of all capabilities and experience to explore the joys of STEM activities. SAICE Durban in collaboration with Young Engineers and Winston Park Primary school showcased the skills of their Grade R and Grade 1 groups to Celebrate World Engineering Day 2024. The students displayed their ingenuity and creativity in assembling static and mobile models. They displayed their understand of the fundamentals of Stability, Robotics and Gearing to complete several tasks, all while having immense fun. The video and imagery capture some of these moments that bode well for the future of STEM and Engineering. Winston Park Primary and Young Engineers must be commended for their efforts in developing the next generation of Engineers. #WorldEngineeringDay #youngengineers #winstonparkprimary #saicedurban #EngineeringInnovation #thefutureisinsafehands

From Concept to Reality Project carried out by six of our students from the Mechanical Engineering course at #LuleåUniversityofTechnology, #CampusSkellefteå. Through an iterative process, these students have designed and built a fully functional single-cylinder engine by putting in efforts and working together as a team. Starting with idea generation, they progressed to #FEM and then generated production drawings. Next, they #3D_printed prototype parts and finally manufactured components through turning, milling, and #CNC machining of various materials. Throughout the process, they engaged in #problem_solving and made several optimisations, resulting in a fully operational engine. The project acknowledges the use of material processing equipment at #T2 and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Campus Skellefteå. What are the educational benefits of university engineering competitions? Do you have an opinion on institutions using competitions as part of engineering educational activities? Have you taken part in a competition as part of a course, or a sponsored event? Let your thoughts be known and fill out this survey: https://lnkd.in/eC4niv3z At TecQuipment we run sponsored student competitions as we believe that once completed students have gained four key attributes: proved their engineering knowledge, developed their soft skills, learnt new skills outside of engineering and built an industry portfolio. Believing in this idea of student development, we would be thankful if our network could complete a research survey. Devised by Fleur, a final year mechanical engineering student at the University of Bath, their research studies university engineering competition teams and their educational benefits to engineering students. Anyone can complete it: students from any degree, supervisors, sponsors and competition organisers, so please send it round and let’s explore this concept and its outcomes together! #universityresearch #researchproject #educationalbenefits #surveyresponses #questionair #surveyresponsesneeded #engineeringeducationdevelopment #educationdevelopment #studentcompetitions
