How Your Personality Type Impacts Your Work… Have you ever wondered why you approach work the way you do? It might have everything to do with your personality type. Assessments like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or the DiSC profile provide a way to understand your unique personality traits. These assessments can significantly influence your work style. For example, if you're an introvert according to MBTI, you might prefer independent work, while extroverts might thrive in group settings. Similarly, DiSC profiles can reveal if you're more driven by data or relationships, influencing your communication and decision-making styles. Personality types also play a crucial role in interpersonal relationships at work. Understanding your colleagues' personality types can improve empathy and help effective communication. By knowing what motivates and discourages everyone, you can create a harmonious and productive work environment. Ultimately, understanding your unique traits can contribute to overall job satisfaction. By harnessing your strengths and addressing areas of growth, you can create a fulfilling, productive career. You might find tasks that align with your personality type more engaging, leading to higher job satisfaction and performance. So, if you are offered the opportunity to take part in psychometric testing either at work or as part of recruitment, make sure you grab it and take the time to learn about your personality type, it will certainly help you make the most out of your career! #MBTI #DiSC #PersonalityType #WorkLife #CareerDevelopment

Have you ever wondered why some organizations include personality tests as part of their #recruitmentprocess? Well, there are several reasons behind this practice. First, #personalitytests help organizations gain a better understanding of a candidate's personality, which can significantly enhance #teamdynamics. When a candidate's personality complements the existing team, it can lead to improved #collaboration and, ultimately, better overall #performance. Second, these tests ensure that a candidate's personality aligns with both the role and the organization's culture. Certain roles require specific personality traits to minimize risks, and conducting a personality test goes a long way to help prevent recruitment errors and improve employee retention. That said, As individuals, it's crucial to consider our strengths and weaknesses when choosing a career path. Neglecting this self-awareness can lead to selecting the wrong career, resulting in struggles to perform or land your dream job. It's important to recognize that each person is a blend of different personality types; therefore before deciding on a career path, it's essential to analyze your personality type carefully, as this can greatly influence your success in your chosen field. In my book, Transforming Your Career Vision Into Reality, I explore the role of personality types in career selection, providing valuable insights for those seeking to make informed career decisions. Your personality says a lot about the type of worker you are. Education and experience aside, your personality is also an important factor that can determine your workplace relationships, career journey, and the kind of profession you have. 🔎 Curious about your work personality? This short quiz may help you to get a rough idea of what kind of worker you are: https://bit.ly/3u5lTDk While personality tests may be fun and, to a certain extent, help you identify some characteristics that you may not be aware of, it is not definitive of how you will behave in the workplace. 💼 If helping others to improve their life quality sounds like a career choice to you, I'd love to invite you to join our growing team. #FinancialConsultant #careergoals #SummitPlannersCluster

What is the reason for you to look out for a job change? I am sure you have been asked this question from each interviewer. Introspect on the below areas before you answer this question to ensure you do not leave a poor impression: - Think hard around what truly motivates you. Why are you looking out for a change? Is the answer based on emotions or ambition. If it is emotion, re-think before you finalize your true motivators as profession works on ambition and not emotions. - Remember that compensation should never be the reason for a job change. Working for a company which has a great culture is much more important as with great culture comes better mental health. - If you are indeed looking for opportunities for growth reasons, be choice full with your words as even though your intention would be to share your ambition transparently with the interviewer, your words is what will create a perception about you. - Be honest but do not go overboard. Some candidates can tend to overshare. Eg. If you have been laid off, share that honestly however if you chose to leave a job to tend to some personal matters, you need not nose dive into what those personal matters are. To state a well thought through reason for change is key as that does become one of the reasons why a candidate's profile gets shortlisted. #interviewskills #interviewtips #interviewpreparation #reasonforchange

Partnering with the best Housebuilding businesses, I stop the wrong people from joining. Over 6750 meetings in 22 years of headhunting. I won't pretend to be your best friend. I'm paid to search. I don't want CVs.
Perfectly capable people are being overlooked because of several factors, not least that they don’t fit the ‘ideal profile’ of what some employers think they want or need for their teams. When I say ideal profile, I mean exactly that. The Ideal profile. Does it mean a certain age? Yes, probably. But that’s discrimination. Yes, probably. Does it mean that they are presently at a level in their career where this role would provide a promotion and progression? Yes, probably. Have they got the right kind of background, insofar as the types of businesses they’ve previously worked with and how this might translate for this role and business culture? Yes, probably. Have they got the necessary track record? They might have. Does age discrimination exist? Yes, most definitely. Can you prove it? No. I read a post today where an expectant mother was made redundant. One to watch. Is this a genuine redundancy situation or does the employer fancy avoiding a year without the employee and having to keep the job open while they pay someone else and the maternity pay? Searching for your next role can be as soul destroying as the people you meet for interviews; when lucky enough to spend time preparing and spending money and time attending. If you aren’t the right shape, according to the employers ideal profile; don’t expect much traction. How do you know if you’re the right person? Go for the interview and give the interviewer a grilling. If they pass the test, consider joining them. Explain who you are and what you can do, what you’ve already accomplished and demonstrate why you should be a good fit for their business. It’s a two-way process. Yes, you might need that job more than anyone else. Fine. Go for it. Put your best foot forward, remember that your value hasn’t changed, you’re still capable and smart, but one thing you can’t control is whether you’re their ideal profile. Confidence is very quickly lost when you’re up against it. That’s human nature. This is where you have to keep trying and keep going. You’re not going into the meeting to lose. Try to be as confident as you can be, without being over confident. Be genuine, be yourself. Don’t play to the camera. Don’t second guess what they want to hear. Be truthful, sincere, honest, interested. Show courtesy, demonstrate that you’ve done your homework. Be positive. Nobody wants to employ dull people. Also, nobody wants to employ people who feel they are ‘entitled’ and that the world 🌎 revolves around them and their needs. Some of the early career folk have this mentality. It’ll soon be knocked out of them when they realise the world doesn’t owe them a living.

Dear job applicants, It is imperative to ensure that the positions you pursue and embrace are in harmony with your personality traits. Overly adjusting your personality to fit the demands of a role may result in feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction in the workplace. #employees #personalitytraits

Here’s a stereotype I hate: Millennials and Zoomers are disloyal at work. It stems from our tendency to job hop (changing jobs frequently). But there are several factors to consider when looking at the motivators behind the practice. Competitive salaries, work-life balance, mental health, and flexibility are top-of mind for many — especially the youngest generations. I’d argue that, often, our perceived lack of loyalty is driven by a desire to find a workplace that checks (at least) a few of these boxes paired with the willingness to hold companies accountable when they promise — but fail — to do so. If you’re a leader who is concerned about retaining young workers, a hiring manager who overlooks the resumes of job hoppers, or an applicant who worries about explaining a job-hopping past during interviews, my latest Harvard Business Review piece is worth a read. https://lnkd.in/ebfpAfTy #GenerationalDifferences #Millennials #Zoomers #GenerationsAtWork #GenZ #Loyalty #Ageism #Stereotypes #Leadership #OrganizationalBehavior #JobHopping #Interviews #Values #Identity #JobInterview #JobHopping #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealth #Accountability #CareerGrowth #Rention #EmployeeRetention
