The Board Succession discussion begins at minute mark 14:00 . The peculiar exchange between Board members Kyle Hauptman and Tanya Otsuka begins at minute 40:11 I’ll summarize my sentiments into a question: Is the loss of a charter and capital in a credit union comparable to the costs of Board/CEO succession planning ? I am a pragmatic person so I’d like to offer two practical solutions: - Incentivize CEOs with bonuses for annual completion of board succession tasks. - Allow CEOs to benefit from the capital growth within their organizations, fostering ownership and alignment with the credit union's success. Put more plainly, if when a CEO started, the credit union had 8 million in capital and by their retirement they’ve created 24 million in capital they should be to access some of those funds in the form of a “liquid event”. Doing this will reduce the risk of the CEO seeking a “liquid event” in the form of a needless merger. Implementing these strategies can harmonize personal and organizational interests, leading to less mergers. #BoardSuccession #CorporateGovernance #Leadership #Incentives #OrganizationAlignment #AskSynergy
