Here's a relevant quote by political philosopher and economist, Karl Marx: "Medicine is the ultimate form of social control because it holds the power to define and regulate the very essence of human well-being and life." This quote highlights how control over medical resources and policies can translate into significant political power. #AskChatGPT
“Until Australian MPs and health practitioners start to listen to people other than the trans activists, we’re going to continue going down this road which is incredibly harmful, especially for children and young people.” Speaking to Rita Panahi on Sky News Australia about yet another attempt in Australia to dismiss the UK's #CassReview and puberty blocker ban, this time by a nurse from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation, who is also a co-convenor of the union’s 'LGBTIQA+ Reference Group'. cc: Anthony Albanese, Mark Butler MP #GenderInquiryNow #AusPol

Hi All, As we continue to bridge the gap between health service providers and health service users in our community using Community Research, We would love to hear about the experiences of the community in transitioning into maternity services roles in Oxford. We need your view/experience on the recruitment process on how smoothly it went or what challenges you faced in transitioning in or working in Midwifery in Oxford. If you had to leave, what difficulty did you face or what change would you like to see within the services. This research is to help tackle the issue of short-staff within this very crucial department that welcomes our children to this world. It will help tackle health inequalities within the service and the community. As you know my previous research about the experiences of the women of ethnic majority while birthing in Oxford https://lnkd.in/e3PjchGK It has helped to identify a lot of disparities within the service that require change as well as positive feedback. The maternity services have listened and heard and are making changes. One of the changes is to help put attention to the Retention and Recruitment level within Maternity in Oxford and also encourage Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the Midwifery department in Oxford. Late last year, some of the women who shared their views in the film above were invited to Oxford Brookes Midwifery where we met student midwives for a Q&A session. There were only 1% of students from Ethnic Majority Communities in that Class. This narrative that Midwifery is only for the White British needs to change (https://lnkd.in/exXe7eQT). Let's help make this change together. #midwifery #nurse #ouh #oxford #oxfordshire #oxfordmidwives #recruitments #equalitydiversityinclusion #oxfordmidwives #midwives #oxfordbrookes #changethenarrative #birthing #changemindset #community #communitynursing #communitymidwives

A statement of vital importance and relevance! Mr Bheemaray V M, drawing from over twelve years of experience in public health, understands that implementing Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) into a system isn't just about a quick fix – it's about laying down a solid foundation built on time and supportive policies. It signifies a commitment to enabling the full scope of the practice of RMC. We, at Aastrika Foundation, understand both the time and commitment that is necessary for the successful implementation of the practice of Respectful Maternity Care, and we have always made efforts to look at the bigger picture and plan for a better future. Thought Leader championing Global Health Equity & Accountability | Advocate for Reproductive Maternal & Newborn Health | Founder | Mentor for Women Leaders | Author| Global WRA movement Co-Chair
Creating a healthier, more equitable world for all mothers and their newborns requires #collective action from all of us. As a #Reproductive, #maternal and #newborn health advocate, I've faced many questions about why I'm passionate about this work. But the answer is clear: investing in #midwives and the #midwifery profession is crucial for achieving this goal. It's not just about #commitment, but also action from #governments, #policymakers, #donors, #private sector, #advocates, #women, and #girls. Let's join together as a #global community to make a difference. This #throwbackthursday, as i delve deeper into my focus on midwifery this month, i wish to share some insights that i shared sometimes back with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) on the role of advocacy in midwifery and why this matters to me Check the link here: https://lnkd.in/dYBxRjgN #HealthEquity #InvestinMidwives #MidwivesvoicesMidwivesdemands #WhatWomenWant USAID MOMENTUM International Confederation of Midwives (ICM)White Ribbon Alliance Kenya AMREF United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
