The hiring process is hard enough — and trying to understand the relevant recruiting terminology doesn’t make things any easier. So allow us to clear up a few key terms for you :) Candidate Profile — This is a framework of characteristics, education history, qualifications, and achievements that businesses look for in a candidate. Sourcing — The process of one (or more) strategies that locate and attract candidates to an open position. Active Candidate — This is a person who is actively looking for a job and potential hiring opportunities. Actively Passive — This is someone who can be found in candidate databases, but is not currently seeking a job. Headcount Mapping — This is a method used to approximate the number of vacant positions to fill and the cost of filling them within a certain timeframe. Contingency Recruiter — This is a recruiter or agency that isn’t paid until they locate a candidate who receives and accepts a job offer. Onboarding — A series of events such as orientation sessions and welcome meetings, meant to help new employees get comfortable in their new roles. After learning these phrases, you’ll be ready to talk talent-acquisition with confidence — and your recruiter will surely appreciate it :)
