'40 Years after the Warnock Report: What Is the Embryo's Special Status?' – the 2024 Annual Conference of the Progress Educational Trust (PET) – is taking place from 9am-5pm (followed by a drinks reception) on Wednesday 4 December. This conference will see speakers including the Chair of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the Chief Executive of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) – plus a wide range of leading practitioners, researchers, ethicists, lawyers and others – revisit the question of 'what status ought to be accorded to the human embryo'. To learn more about the event and to register, go to https://lnkd.in/dzSaTvwr. The ticket price includes lunch, morning/afternoon refreshments, and the closing drinks reception. There is an early bird discount if you register before 13 September. Additionally, the Institute of Medical Ethics has provided funding for 8 medical students to attend the conference free of charge. Medical students wishing to apply for one of these places should email sstarr@progress.org.uk This is an in person conference taking place in central London, and will not be livecast or recorded. Countdown to the 16th! Have you registered for the upcoming American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM Academy webinar? The webinar will discuss embryo morphology grading and how to improve your skills. The focus will be on how blastocysts are graded, reviewing the Gardner Scoring system, modifications of the Gardner scoring system, and SART embryo grading. The effectiveness of blastocyst morphology grading in relation to new selection techniques, including PGT-A, Artificial Intelligence, and other methods, will be assessed in relation to how blastocyst grading is used for the selection of viable embryos for freezing. Finally, we will discuss the selection of other embryo stages and compare their utility in comparison to blastocyst grading. The United Kingdom has developed its first rules to guide research using human embryo models. Scientists say they are pleased the country has clarified its position on the fast-moving field. The voluntary code of practice, published today, prohibits researchers from implanting embryo models made from human stem cells into the uterus of a living person or other animal. But it does not set fixed time limits on how long models can be grown in the laboratory, as some other countries have proposed. Instead, the code requires that projects propose their own limits on the basis of the minimum time needed to achieve their scientific objectives, and that an oversight committee be established to review and approve projects. #medicine #health #science #biology #people #humans #doctor #nurses #birth #doctors #physicians #research #hospitals #legal #law

In the latest issue of the Embryolab Academy's Scientific Newsletter, Mrs #Chara Oraiopoulou BSc, MRes, Biologist, Senior Clinical Embryologist, ESHRE cert., informs us about "The impact of trophectoderm biopsy techniques on mosaicism occurrence and implantation rate" and explains that "According to our study, no specific biopsy technique can jeopardize either the accuracy of the results or the implantation potential, as long as standardized procedures are followed. Thus, the technique of trophectoderm biopsy should be adjusted to each blastocyst, according to the embryo’s morphology, opting for minimal embryo handling." Researcher Miguel Herreros Hergueta, embryologist at Instituto Bernabeu Alicante, has led a study published in the ReproSciences journal. 🔬This study, entitled ‘Impact of Group vs Individual Embryo Culture Strategies on Blastocyst and Clinical Outcomes’, determines that individual #embryo culture improves the blastocyst formation rate and embryo quality compared to group culture. 🗣️‘The results of this study have important implications for assisted reproduction clinics, especially those without time-lapse incubators. Individual embryo culture is a simple and inexpensive procedure that can significantly improve the results of #IVF treatment,’ explains Miguel Herrero. 🔗More information in the first comment of this post

Let's explore the great potential of Piezo-ICSI, a revolutionary technique that significantly improves fertilization, survival, and blastocyst development rates compared to conventional ICSI. This paper offers valuable insights and evidence, making it essential reading for professionals in assisted reproductive technology and embryology. The Piezo-ICSI technique employs piezoelectric pulses for precise oocyte membrane penetration. This study concludes that Piezo-ICSI offers a less invasive, more efficient alternative, enhancing clinical outcomes in assisted reproductive technologies and shortening embryologist training times. If you are an embryologist, do you think that the widespread adoption of Piezo-ICSI could be truly justified, or could its higher costs and specialized equipment outweigh the clinical benefits, particularly for clinics already achieving high success rates with conventional ICSI techniques? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let's discuss! credit Victor N. P.S. The original video and tables were edited for educational purposes. Embryologists are biologists who have specialised in human embryology and assisted reproduction techniques.🔬 Their work involves all aspects of the laboratory. They’re responsible for carrying out assisted reproduction techniques, such as the treatment of eggs obtained by ovarian puncture, their fertilisation, the care of resulting embryos, and deciding which embryo to transfer and / or freeze. They’re also in charge of maintaining all laboratory equipment and conditions (temperature, air quality, oxygen levels when working with liquid nitrogen, etc.). They must also have a comprehensive knowledge of human reproduction at a molecular and physiological level, in order to understand their work and be able to implement improvements in the different processes. #Courses #Training #Ovolearning #Assistedreproduction #Marbella #Fertilityclinic #Infertility #Medicine #Laboratories #ICSI #Wetrainyourfuture #Embryologist #Biology #Assistedreproductioncourse #Practicalcourses #Biologist #Embryologist #Biopsy #embryologylab #embryologytraining #embryo #specializedcourses #embryobiopsy #labtechniques #qualitycontrolcourse
