Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company (IVM), a Nigerian automobile manufacturer, has recently made headlines by introducing its inaugural electric vehicle (EV) at its production facility in Nnewi, Anambra State. The announcement was made public by Cornel Osigwe, who holds the position of Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Innoson. Osigwe excitedly shared his experience of test-driving the vehicle through a Facebook post, stating, “I just test drove the first Innoson electric vehicle produced in Nnewi. We are just starting.” The revelation comes ten months after the company had vocalized its ambition to enhance the production of indigenous vehicles and had hinted at the establishment of an EV manufacturing plant. Osigwe, in a video, showcased himself test-driving the EV, marking a significant milestone for the company. Previously, Innoson’s Chairman, Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, had been reported to have finalized the groundwork for creating an electric vehicle production hub. #Egypt: GV Auto signs agreement with China’s FAW to manufacture, assemble, distribute, and export EVs EV manufacturing will be scaled up over the next 3 to 5 years, with the goal of eventually producing cars with 65% locally-sourced components for export to the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America. Egypt-based GV Investments has partnered with China’s leading automotive manufacturer FAW Group to manufacture cost-efficient electric vehicles (EVs) in Egypt, GV Investments’ CEO Sherif Hamouda told Asharq Business. Under this partnership, a subsidiary of GV Investments will start the local production of FAW’s most affordable car model within the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, Hamouda said. He added that automotive firms would be primarily targeting the passenger transport services industry. 📖Source https://lnkd.in/geTrn4Gg GV Auto aren’t the only ones teaming up with EV automakers abroad: In the first few months of the year, we’ve already seen Ezz El Arab partner with Germany's Smart Automobile to bring its electric vehicles to the local market in 3Q 2024. Meanwhile, Raya Holding’s auto unit inked an agreement with China’s XPeng to bring its EVs into the local market and to work towards assembling the vehicles locally. State-owned El Nasr Automotive also kept up its search for a foreign partner to produce EVs with and was in talks with Indian conglomerate Hinduja Group earlier in the year, after ventures with Chinese EV manufacturers in previous years fell through. 📖Source https://lnkd.in/g3NgkVk3 #IONAXS #CleanMobility #eMobility #ElectricCars #FutureMobility #Batteries #Automotive #ElectricVehicles #AutonomousVehicles #EV #Lithium #Innovation #Sustainability #Recycling #Future #Energy #Efficiency #Technology #AVEVAI #TomTsogt 🔔👍

China’s Second-Biggest Automaker Is Part of New Egyptian EV Push An Egyptian company is partnering with China’s second-largest state-owned automaker in the latest effort to build affordable electric cars in the Middle East’s most populous nation. Under the deal, a subsidiary of Egypt’s GV Investments will begin local production of China FAW Group’s cheapest model in the first quarter of 2025, according to Sherif Hamouda, chairman of the Cairo-based firm. Ride-hailing services will be a key target market for the vehicles, he said, declining to give a total dollar figure for this month’s pact. Manufacturing will be scaled up over the next three to five years, with the goal of eventually producing cars with 65% locally sourced components for export to the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America, Hamouda said As much as $20 million needs to be spent on industrial facilities, he added. GV Auto plans to begin by introducing to Egypt the Bestune E05, one of the world’s lowest-priced EVs, which is commonly used for taxi services. Hamouda declined to say how much it would sell for in Egypt. In China, prices start from about $17,500. The source: ARGUS #energyticslimited #energyefficiency #renewableenergy #ev #egypt

BYD Pakistan, a joint venture between China’s BYD and Mega Motors, predicts that up to 50% of vehicles sold in Pakistan will be electrified by 2030, aligning with global trends. The Warren Buffett-backed Chinese electric vehicle giant recently entered the Pakistani market, which has been traditionally dominated by Japanese automakers like Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki. Despite a 15-year low in vehicle sales, the rise of hybrid vehicles, especially from South Korea’s KIA and Chinese brands like Changan and MG, signals a shift towards greener options. BYD Pakistan launched three models in August and plans to introduce them for sale later this year, with an assembly plant set to open by 2026. Kamran Kamal, BYD’s spokesperson in Pakistan and CEO of Hub Power, acknowledged that the 50% target is ambitious, especially with infrastructure challenges. However, hybrid electric vehicle sales have already more than doubled in the past year, indicating a growing demand for cleaner technology in the country. While 30% NEV adoption by 2030 seems feasible, achieving 50% may be more difficult, according to industry analysts. #Pakistan #bydpakistan #electriccar #petrolcar #Megamotors #Hybrid #hubpower #technews #NewsUpdate #LatestNews #HyperMedia

Toyota, at a motor show last Friday in Lagos, announced plans to roll out three models of hybrid vehicles in Nigeria in the next three years as part of its support for the federal government’s green initiative in the transportation sector. The three models Toyota Cross, RAV4 and Land Cruiser Prado, will both be electric and petrol-powered. The first rollout will begin in Q4 2024, the second in 2025, and the third latest in Q1 2026, the firm’s country managing director said. Recall that in mid-May 2024, President Tinubu had ordered all federal parastatals in the country to henceforth only purchase electric and CNG-fueled vehicles against conventional ones run on petrol or diesel, setting a precedent for millions of Nigerians. Car dealers in Nigeria have begun making moves to begin commercial sales of such vehicles. Though their initial costs could scare, hybrids are the best to own. Users of CNG-fueled cars in Nigeria report benefits over petrol- or diesel-run ones. 📸 North Bay Toyota Are you seeing my post for the first time? BYD Pakistan, a partnership between China's BYD and Pakistani car group Mega Motors, predicts that up to 50% of all vehicles sold in Pakistan by 2030 will be electric or hybrid. This aligns with global targets for electric vehicle adoption. The company plans to open an assembly plant in early 2026 and will introduce vehicles for sale later this year, starting with three models launched in August. BYD Pakistan aims to establish 20-30 charging stations in the initial phase, concurrent with the rollout of its cars. However, achieving 50% electric vehicle adoption by 2030 may be challenging due to infrastructure hurdles. The government plans to incentivize the construction of charging infrastructure, and BYD Pakistan is collaborating with oil marketing companies to establish a charging network. The company will initially sell fully assembled vehicles, which are subject to higher import charges than locally assembled vehicles. BYD Pakistan's main focus is to have locally assembled cars on the roads as soon as possible. . . . #ElectricVehicles #Pakistan #BYDPakistan #AutoSales #2030Target #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #Transportation #Innovation #tribunetrends
