Market Snapshot of the % of available candidates across the mid-level supply chain market for NSW (June 2024). Availability levels remain low across all key areas of supply chain functions, with planners still seeing the most demand across Q2 causing levels of available candidates in this space to reduce further. Continued demand for Warehouse and DC Managers, has also led to a shortage of available candidates in this field. With businesses investing heavily in their Logistics functions, this is a trend we anticipate will continue for the remainder of 2024. Hiring of contractors across the supply chain market is still proving difficult due to these low % of available candidates. Demand Planner – 2% Supply Planner – 3% Supply Planning Manager – 6% Demand Planning Manager – 7% Logistics Manager – 6% Warehouse and Distribution Manager – 4% *Please note this data is collected from our live cloud-based candidate portal For more insight into the market, then please feel free to contact me via LinkedIn or email me at Tom@jigsawtm.com

Hardworking, Analytical and Creative Supply Chain Planner | Project Management Planner | Purchasing | Senior Planner | SAP | Inventory Management | MRP | Material Shortage Management | Vendor Managment
Just a random thought here, but I've noticed in a lot of supply chain planner job postings they ask for very specific skills such as "master of material planning" or "10 years of demand planning experience". What this tells me is that the hiring manager isn't looking for a supply chain planner, but a specialist in one area. Think of it this way: material, demand, and production planners are specialists. They typically know one job extremely well and might have a passing familiarity with other supply chain planning roles and how those roles affect their specific job which makes them a specialist. A supply chain planner should be more than just familiar with all or most of the roles involved in supply chain planning. They need to be able to work functionally in all the roles that supply chain planning entails. That makes them a jack-of-all-trades. What are your thoughts on this?
