2024 was FORMATIVE. As we step into 2025, I look back with immense gratitude for the opportunities and experiences that shaped me throughout 2024. The journey has been nothing short of formative, and I owe a significant part of it to my work with the National REDD+ Secretariat. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Director of the Secretariat,ROSELYN FOSUAH ADJEI and management for the trust and support in placing me strategically in High-Level engagements. Outcomes to these for Ghana include: Financial and technical support for sustainable forest management. Enhanced governance and safeguards frameworks in forest conservation. Strengthened collaboration with global partners. These opportunities not only sharpened my skills but also broadened my understanding of forest management in light of local community/ grassroot dynamics and leveraging these local experiences in support of Climate Change Negotiations. As 2025 unfolds, I am energized by the horizon of new growth, career development, and the chance to contribute to even bigger opportunities and networks. I look forward to a 2025 where Ghana receives more climate finance with speed to boost the existing efforts such as REDD+, and to explore other innovative climate solutions, and champion a sustainable future for this generation and the next. African Monitor, in collaboration with Action for Sustainable Development (A4SD), conducted a survey inviting civil society organizations to provide an independent assessment of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The survey results were gathered to support both national and global SDG reviews through 2024, following the 2023 midpoint evaluation. Participants rated each of the 17 Goals on a scale from -5 (significant regression) to +5 (significant progress), with 2015 as the baseline year. For SDG 15 (Life on Land) in South Africa, the survey revealed an average score of 0.9, indicating only 18.2% progress.
