The devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton go beyond immediate destruction. These powerful storms have stifled access to vital medications, increased the risk of illness and mental health issues, and caused long-term effects on housing, income, and education. In the wake of their destructive paths, Project HOPE has deployed emergency response teams to North Carolina and Florida. We are continuing to provide support where it is needed most. At Project HOPE, we believe that every young woman and girl deserves access to quality health care and mental health support. In Haiti, where economic challenges and fuel shortages make travel to health facilities difficult, we're bringing care directly to those who need it most. Since October 2023, our Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), with support from USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, have been operating across southern Haiti, providing over 120,000 patients with: - Primary health care - Essential medications - Mental health services - Protection services - Hygiene promotion activities 🚐 Why mobile units? They're a lifeline for communities far from functional health facilities. By offering free care where people live, we're removing barriers and ensuring that basic health needs are met. 💪 Community Involvement: Local leaders play a crucial role in organizing and promoting our clinics, which often take place in schools, churches, or repurposed health facilities. 🌟 Impact: We've served thousands of patients - far exceeding our initial forecasts. In preparation for the harsh winter months, Project HOPE has delivered 3,500 jackets and 3,500 hats to fully equip ambulance workers in Dnipropetrovska oblast in Ukraine, meeting the needs of the region’s crews. This clothing protects against the severe weather conditions and provides necessary mobility in emergency situations. Proper equipment is key to maintaining the efficiency and health of personnel performing critical tasks, and Project HOPE is proud to provide this essential gear. This vital contribution of winter uniforms was made possible through the support of the USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) under the Emergency Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations (EACAP) program, implemented by Project HOPE. Dnipropetrovsk Region is a fairly large medical hub of Ukraine, and supporting the national evacuation and emergency medical care system is one of our key priorities.

Indigenous communities in the U.S. continue to experience disproportionately high rates of mental health challenges due to historical trauma, cultural disconnection, and systemic inequities. These struggles are compounded by limited access to mental health resources. This #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples and reaffirm our commitment to improving access to culturally relevant mental health care. By working alongside the Yuchi Tribe to develop tailored mental health and resilience training, we are taking steps to address these health disparities.
