Do you work for or run a business that's been operating for over 100 years? If so, let us know! We are working alongside the Wellington Chamber of Commerce on something exciting in this space. In the meantime, check out this fascinating article from The Post's Julie Jacobson 📰
Great weekend article from the Post's Julie Jacobson, reminding us of the importance and resilience of the business community of Wellington. The Chamber was among them: 1856! Our first advocacy success was improving Pencarrow Lighhouse and later the construction of a deep water port at Queens Wharf. A great complement for this story is the Wellington Heritage Festival coming up soon so check it out. Richard Norman Roger Blakeley

The 15|55 Cohort is exactly what lending needs. We need to stop our shift back towards institutionalized lending. This should be mandatory for all CDFIs.
On #Juneteenth, we celebrate the hard-fought freedoms won by those who came before us. It is a day of joy, but also a day of somber reflection on how much further we need to go. At CapEQ, we work to invest in Black-owned businesses, today and everyday, because we know that they are not supported at the same levels as their white counterparts. Watch our Path to 15|55 documentary short that dives into how supporting Black-owned businesses creates jobs and will add $55 billion to our economy.

Discovering, preserving, and sharing your family's history is crucial, but it's not always easy. Müllerhaus Legacy offers trustworthy, high-touch assistance to multigenerational family businesses, HNW/UHNW families, and the advisors who serve them. We understand the five most common heritage preservation concerns: 1) Their oldest stakeholders are not getting any younger. 2) They need help researching knowledge they've already lost. 3) Although they know family and business history is essential, they've put it off for a long time— — BECAUSE 4) They don't know where to start, — AND 5) They're too busy running the business to do it right. #familybusiness #familyoffice #legacy

“Don’t go out a-seeking of wealth. Look within you for ideas! ‘The Kingdom of God is within you.’ Use it—purposefully! Use it to THINK constructively. ~Robert Collier Here is my favorite real state developer Rick Caruso (left) with Pete Nordstroms. Caruso is a great example of how by having a purpose in life one can become incredibly wealthy and successful at the same time. He is a philanthropist, the wealthiest man in Los Angeles, and the owner of two of the most profitable landmarks and shopping centers in the world, The Grove and The Americana. #success, #purposedriven ,#bussiness , #RickCaruso,#entreprenourship, #smallbusinessowners ,#smallbusiness

In the ever-evolving landscape of New York City politics, the business community’s relationship with Mayor Eric Adams has been a compelling saga. From his 2021 mayoral campaign to his current legal battles, Adams garnered support from the city’s business elite, with many seeing him as a key ally. His pro-business stance, after years of what many perceived as antagonism under previous administrations, attracted notable figures, including billionaires and real estate moguls. However, Adams’s tenure has been marred by growing ethical concerns, with allegations of corruption now threatening his administration. Despite the mounting challenges, many within the business community have stood by him, believing his pro-business agenda was essential for the city’s economic recovery post-pandemic. But as federal investigations into his conduct continue, some of these same supporters are grappling with the implications of their endorsement and what a potential collapse of his administration might mean for the future of business in New York. Billionaires like John Catsimatidis, Hal Fetner, and Michael Bloomberg, among others, contributed to his re-election and defense funds, with many adopting a “wait and see” approach. Yet, as business leaders such as Kathryn Wylde from the Partnership for New York City navigate these turbulent waters, the question remains: What does the future hold for City Hall? And how will Adams’ legal troubles affect initiatives like the ‘City of Yes’ zoning proposals, which aim to reshape the city’s housing landscape? The business world, historically reluctant to engage in political scandals, finds itself in a precarious position. While some remain hopeful Adams can weather the storm, there are growing concerns about who might succeed him, especially if the business community’s influence wanes in favor of more left-leaning leadership. With the financial solvency of the city not immediately at risk, as Richard Sylla of NYU noted, the business class seems more concerned about the city’s reputation and the potential for policy gridlock. As the saga unfolds, many will be watching closely to see if Adams can overcome his legal challenges or if a new era of leadership will begin to reshape New York’s future. #NewYorkCityPolitics #EricAdams #BusinessCommunity #NYCLeadership #CityOfYes #RealEstate #ZoningProposals #NYCDevelopment #PublicCorruption #NYCGovernance #BusinessAndPolitics #MayoralRace #BigBusiness #REBNY #KathrynWylde #JumaaneWilliams

I unleash & ignite superheroes to conceive the new, transcend the difficult & achieve the unimaginable through leading, coaching & advising people & organizations | Trust Safety Inclusion l Thought Leader l ex-Uber
How are you elevating and mentoring the women around you? Empowering other women and members of marginalized groups is crucial for social change and has transformational impact on the lives of others. If your title defines you as a leader, and you are not mentoring and elevating others in these groups, then you are not a leader. Period. If you are a company, mentorship within the organization should not be a volunteer program but required of your leaders. An annual bonus is usually based on overall company and individual performance. Those performance metrics should not just be based on a leader's contribution to company success but also their contribution to the growth and mentorship of individuals within the organization. As a consumer, know where you are putting your money. Take time to thoughtfully research the companies and products you spend money on. What are they doing for these groups? How diverse are the decision-makers, including board members and executives with the most power, such as the CEO, CFO and COO. Women are described as the "super consumer" due to their consumer power. We have known for awhile that women drive the world economy. Globally, they control about $20 trillion in annual consumer spending, and control or influence 85% of consumer spending. That power and influence continues to expand across industries. How are you using your consumer power? We have yet to fully tap into our consumer power. We sometimes forget how much superhero power we have in driving the change are hearts ache for. Let's continue to find ways to use our power for positive change. Most importantly, many of us have yet to tap into our personal power. It starts by recognizing the power within self. We must individually and collectively help others like us embrace and ignite our personal power to drive impactful change. When we invest in elevating women and some of the most marginalized in our communities and organizations, we all rise. #internationalwomensday #womensday #womenshistorymonth #womensupportingwomen #women #changemakers

Faith-based Multi-housing Ecosystem | Entrepreneur | Investor | Engineering to Multi-family Investing
Want to hear a story on how to use our business as a platform for ministry? Read on... When I started my journey in Multi-family, many of my friends told me - please tell those big owner guys to stop increasing rent. This is true, as I learned, that the way to make $ and have the property appreciated is by increasing Net Operating Income [Gross Rental Income - Operating Expenses]. That is a big issue. As I continue and learn in my journey, I found not all Multi-family owners and operators think about only profit. They think more about how to use their business as a platform for ministry. This means that their business is to care, support, and add value to the residents living in their properties. Sharing David Snyder's video where he shared how he uses his Multi-family business as a platform for ministry and what God is asking him to do next with the Foundation. https://lnkd.in/g9cH7Bwr

Why do so many relationships in the business world fail altogether or fail to ever materialize? Many years ago, I was a financial advisor in a past life, a little wet behind the ears as the old saying goes. I was very naive in my belief that my expertise and charming personality would be enough to win new business. What I truly failed to realize at that time, was no matter how great my company was, how knowledgable I personally was, how hard I was committed to work, none of those things meant anything to anyone I was trying to do business with. Nobody wants to be sold to, in most cases it truly does come down to growing, cultivating and building lasting relationships. It took me way too long to learn those lessons, but eventually I began to understand the synergy in truly listening, understanding, relating to and building long term relationships where both parties were invested fully in collective success. Fast forward to present day, I was very fortune to come full circle back to an organization that is fully invested in not just my own personal success; but our very fabric is our committment to partner with other organizations in the sports & entertainment sector to advance their operations and work together partnering hand in hand in sync to make our partners brand shine. Woven into our very mission statement is a promise if we don't perform, we will go away. There is literally no way that our organization makes money if you as our partner does not make money. We are committed to changing the game and making a significant impact in how stadium, arena, fan food and entertainment partnerships operate. I would love to discuss our model with you in more detail. Drop me a message or connect and let's chat about making your brand shine in a true partnership agreement. https://lnkd.in/gjCjK8pK #letsgo #letsgrow #partnership #partnershipsmatter #strengthandhonor
