Life Has Come Full Circle, But this time I am standing at different level.   16 years ago, I joined the Oil & Gas industry, a fresh graduate with no idea where this journey would lead. With aim of supporting the family and limited choices guided me towards drilling engineering, a world of safety harness, hard hats, massive machinery, and the thrill of digging oil wells in remote places.   The corporate perks, from business class travels to 5-star accommodations, seemed like a dream. Surviving as a vegetarian in international locations and working 12-hour shifts in bunkers became my everyday routine. The Oil & Gas industry, unknown to many people, gave me everything I desired in just a decade.   Yet, my curiosity to explore other domains and life beyond oil led me to bid farewell to my beloved industry. An MBA in the U.S. and a stint in Ladakh with Sonam Wangchuk opened my eyes to sustainability and diversity. Joining the Pharma industry as a Project Manager was like starting anew, a challenge that made me a more interactive and expressive professional.   The entrepreneurial bug bit me when a schoolmate suggested starting a startup. Despite the sweat and tears poured into it for 2.5 years, it didn't take off, teaching me invaluable lessons in every aspect of business. Better fail than regret.   Last week, I returned to the Oil & Gas industry as a Business Development Manager after 7 years, bringing a complete package of skills. I am not the same professional as before; I am armed with a technical background, an MBA, PMP certification, manufacturing insights, regulatory compliance knowledge, marketing acumen, customer relationship skills, and a wealth of life stories to share with the next generation.   Yes, Life has indeed come full circle, but this time, I stand at a different level – a testament to the continuous journey of learning, growth, and evolution. #leadership #thoughtleadership #transformation #leadershipcoaching #coaching #personalgrowth #personaldevelopment #evolution #growth #growthmindset

About the career development and the maturing of an IT professional… In addition to handling different technologies or being close to different industries and business areas, today I believe that an IT professional reaches a high level of maturity when they no longer accept working in toxic environments. They are exemplary of that group of professionals who believe that a Technical Leader, for example, can no longer accept being a Developer Engineer. Or that a Project Manager should no longer accept being a Business and Systems Analyst. This mistaken linear and restricted view of a career - encouraged even by many companies - unfortunately destroys the maturity and evolution of any I.T. professional today.
