Taking the time to build a relationship and gain mutual respect will carry you farther - a quick sell never works in the long run. 👉 Listen - It's easy to talk about yourself and what your organization can bring to the table, but the true value lies in understanding a company's challenges and offering solutions. 👉 Don't take 'no' personally - It might not be the right time, there might not be alignment in goals - But that can shift, so you have to consistently reassess your relationship with organizations to determine if there's a fit. This week is "Simplify Your Life Week" and that got me thinking about how complicated nursing has become. For all of my nursing friends, utilize this week to think about how you can simplify your week (and weeks to come) to make your life a little easier to manage. Nursing is a calling and it breaks my heart to hear of so many losing their passion whether it be high patient numbers for one nurse, poor leadership, violence, and countless hours working the floors. One thing is for sure. If an organization doesn’t offer transition to practice programs new and experienced registered nurses, the organization needs one FAST! ANCC offers a great framework to enculturate and build upon. When effectively implemented and maintained, these programs drive positive improvements on one-year turnover rates. Professional nursing shouldn’t settle for anything less than the national standard. #PaintTheWorldGreen #PaintTheWorldBlue
