Meet the Team behind #hellostavanger! When passion meets purpose, magic happens! 🌟 👋 Introducing Omar R. Langset, a strategic leader and VP of Business Development Technology at Lyse. 1. Why did you want to be part of the #HelloStavanger journey? When Thomas Bærheim reached out to me in September about establishing a conference centered around the life-cycle of running code, I felt a surge of excitement! This concept addressed a gap I had long noticed. Stavanger and the western region of Norway are brimming with talent and innovation, yet these achievements often remain under the radar. The prospect of showcasing our region as a powerhouse in technology across Norway was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. 2. What's got you counting down the days with excitement for the event? I’m eagerly anticipating the gathering of professionals from various industries, all united by a common passion for technology. The opportunity to network and learn new, exciting things is thrilling. I’m particularly excited to discover the hidden gems of expertise and innovation in our region that I’m not yet aware of. Judging by the speakers program (which was released yesterday 😉 ), it’s clear that this event will be of exceptional quality. 3. Why should people join us at #HelloStavanger? There are countless reasons to join us at #HelloStavanger, but one that stands out to me is the conference’s independence from any specific companies or industries. This event brings together professionals who might typically compete for talent or clients, collaborating instead to create a shared space for networking and learning. Our goal is to establish a lasting tradition with this conference in Stavanger. Don’t miss the chance to say you were there when it all began – I know I wouldn’t! #yaass #networking #learning #stavanger

The family vacation in Lithuania is coming to an end - I am staying an extra week in Vilnius for work - and I have loved staying in the Anykščiai region, especially hiking on the trail along the Šventoji river. We had done our homework and prepared everything for the trip, starting from the parking next to the Spa, and walking towards the observatory tower, and the trail looked great on paper... And it was nothing like what we experienced when walking it! It's one thing to look at a path on a (simplified) map and imagine what it will look like, and it's another thing to be walking and doing the real thing. Sometimes, the path would be really close to the river - othertimes it would veer off towards the forest; each time providing us with surprising and unexpected views. Oh yes - another thing I discovered about Lithuania this time - there are totems that will greet you on your path. I loved discovering these surprises while walking - and was delighted that they weren't on the map; it became a game where we would be on the lookout for the next totem, or the next surprise on the map. Expecting surprises, expecting something unexpected across the path. Yes, the trail was quite different from what we expected - and that made it so much better! Yes, the unexpected surprises created an affordance for newfound conversations between a family that expected "just" a trail. What would it look like if we started to incorporate more curiosity for surprises, for unexpected things? Imagine if every roadblock became a new puzzle to solve, like in an escape room? What if every complaint that comes your way became an opportunity to explore the system - and understand how to adjust and adapt while keeping a common objective in mind? What if we could start off our interactions, our workshops, our projects with a vague enough idea of where to go - and being ready to adapt and co-create our journey together? I'm looking forward to exploring more of this during the #Kishōtenketsu facilitation cohort at Vinted next week with a fantastic group of Engineering Managers - Aida Adomaite - Aidas Pasilis - Ainius Obolevičius - Akvilė Rykovė 🎈- Balázs Bitay - Edvinas Raguckas - Karolis Valiulis - Lukas Dirzys - Ruta Augustinaite - Simona Bagdonavičienė - Toma Stasauskaite-Petkevice - Valdas Matusevičius !

🌟 Reflecting on an Incredible Experience at Polylogue Madrid! 🌟 Last week, I had the absolute privilege of speaking at Polylogue Madrid, and I’m still buzzing with energy from the incredible exchange of ideas and inspiration that unfolded. The room was alive with curiosity, openness, and thoughtful questions—it was a dream setting for meaningful dialogue. I shared lessons that stem from deeply personal, first-hand experiences, diving into moments that shaped my journey. The stories I told weren’t just my own; they were reflections of the collective challenges, opportunities, and growth we all face. One of the most exciting parts of my talk was introducing a concept that I assumed many might already know about: Multipotentiality. To my surprise, this sparked a fresh wave of curiosity and recognition among the audience. It was amazing to see how this concept, which celebrates having diverse interests and talents, resonated with so many in the room. The feedback from attendees has been overwhelming and heartwarming. To know that my words left a mark and perhaps shifted perspectives is a reminder of why I love doing this. 🔔 Here’s a question for you: Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit neatly into one box—like your passions, skills, and ideas are too expansive to label? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Drop a comment below, and let’s keep the conversation going. Here’s to embracing our many dimensions and living with courage and curiosity. 🙌 #PolylogueMadrid #Multipotentiality #Growth #Inspiration #LifelongLearning

There are so many reasons why team retreats should be more encouraged, but for us, this is the biggest one; Breaking the routine and mixing up the environment can bring out the creative spirit in you/your team! ➡ For example: Twelve of the Sipgate team organised an off-site in Lisbon to brainstorm on a new product, a new brand for a mobile operator based in Germany. Their main reasons for visiting us at Surf Office were: brainstorming a new product requires a great deal of focus and creativity, and they felt that a change of environment would help. This, coupled with the endless team-building activities and opportunities to relax in a new location, gets team members thinking in completely new ways. It may seem like just a trip to a sunny location, but this boost in team spirit helps team members brainstorm ideas they didn't even know they had! #teamretreats #breaktheroutine #creativityboost

“What’s your startup again? Like a YMCA for rich people?” ~ Brussels, 2023. OUCH. That might have been the craziest/funniest interpretation of Yayem, but it highlighted one of our biggest pains. I’ve confused many people (including myself) with so many iterations of Yayem since launching 3 years ago: - building up our Y Houses & communities in Lisbon and Mexico City - becoming a travel app for champagne nomads - hosting everything from poolside chats to cacao ceremonies… Playing 0 to 1 by the book. Celebrating our 3 year anniversary next month, I realise that our Why was actually quite clear all along: To encourage cross-cultural dialogue in a world that is more divided than ever. Members might come for fun social connection, but they stay for meaningful, global conversations and a unique sense of community they can’t find anywhere else. Even though my YMCA days are far behind me 😂, I cannot go without cross-cultural discovery - it broadens my horizons like nothing else. It's the best remedy against echo chambers and polarized bubbles — which are our biggest enemy. As we enter Y4 of the Yayem journey, we hope to bring exposure to new ideas and fresh perspectives into the lives of our members though the power of extraordinary global connections. Together, we’re on a mission to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Maybe one salon at a time ;)

Last week, the Rebel Energy team escaped to the surroundings of Center Parcs Woburn Forest 🌳✨for our offsite - a chance to connect, reflect, and energise for the road ahead. From the very start, the offsite buzzed with energy. We kicked off with an icebreaker challenge, designed to spark collaboration and creativity. These moments reminded us of the importance of teamwork and the fresh perspectives that arise when we come together. 🤩 The heart of the offsite focused on discussing our biggest challenges as a company and exploring how our teams can drive meaningful impact moving forward. Through honest conversations and shared insights, we aligned on our goals and the steps we need to take to achieve them.💡 One highlight was diving into the Colour Model, a fascinating framework that helped us uncover more about our individual and collective styles. By understanding the different ways we think, communicate, and problem-solve, we’re better equipped to support one another and tackle challenges with strength and empathy.💪❤️ As we wrapped up the offsite, it was clear: our Rebel Way spirit is stronger than ever. With fresh ideas and renewed focus, we’re ready to take on what’s next, together. 🤝 Here’s to the power of teamwork, self-awareness, and a commitment to making a difference! ⚡ #TheRebelWay #Teamwork #Impact
