In today's post, we will talk about another grouping of the sounds of North American English: fricatives and affricates. These terms are probably unfamiliar to you, but they describe sounds by the place of where they are made and the feature of air release. Fricatives are noisy; the air released is continuous, hence the implication of friction. These sounds are made in a variety of places within the mouth, but they all have this in common: they are produced with friction. Affricates are an interesting, small group of sounds. These have the features of both fricatives and stops, which we learned about last week. The air is stopped as it reaches the point of placement, and then it is released with friction. Be sure to check out my programs at https://lnkd.in/g4scKwsh where you can learn more about how to speak North American English clearly and naturally. #pronunciation #hindi #humanresources
