I just read an interesting piece from InvestmentNews, which can be found here: https://lnkd.in/e2DutSQG I'm a huge fan of Tony Robbins; he was a major force behind me starting TSG nearly 34 years ago. And I may read his latest book. But some of what appears in this article is, in my view, misleading. First, Tony speaks about compounding private equity returns; but private equity returns are measured using IRR, which we do not compound. Second, is it fair to compare the returns of private equities with public equities? I think not. Beyond the difference in methods, P/E managers are only graded on their investments, not their committed capital: the cash that may be sitting around waiting to be invested doesn't count. I think more needs to be said on this topic, so when I return from my upcoming trip to KSA (for a GIPS® verification), I'll "pen" something a bit longer. Stay tuned! Oh, and feel free to chime in.

People come to us at times of extreme pressure and to be able to really help them through a stressful process and out the other side is great." Q: How has the industry changed since you started? A: "It's much more heavily regulated - in fact sometimes over-regulated and it adds a substantial cost to the end user." Q: What advice would you give anyone starting their career in insolvency? A: "Stick with it! It can be a daunting profession but also so exhilarating and well worth it once you have established yourself." Q: If you weren't an insolvency practitioner what would you be and why? A: "I would have been a PE teacher. But I did two weeks of teacher-training and that was enough!" Q: What three items would you put in a museum of your life? A: "My golf clubs, golf balls and an allotment if that would fit!
