Important update to this: This behavior actually had nothing to do with Positron itself! What happened was that I had already opened Thing in Ptron (can we call it Ptron?) and loaded the {here} package before I made the experimental .RProj files. Regardless of IDE, there {here} package detects file structure as soon as it's loaded and assumes that for the duration of the session. I never encountered this previously because I never open RStudio any way besides via R Project, so there was never an occasion where I would have something open and *then* add a project... but with Positron, that could happen, so we are going to have to make sure we have good habits with our RProj and/or .here files going forward. 😘 (Big thanks to Jenny Bryan for helping me sort this out!)
