'Balanced mutual funds attempt to follow a similar strategy. The fund manager typically strives for a specific mix, such as 60% stocks and 40% bonds, but the balance might vary within limits spelled out in the prospectus. These funds generally have three objectives: conserve principal, provide income, and pursue long-term growth.'

Elevated interest rates and supply dynamics in the Treasury bond market may pose a challenge to Private equity firms seeking capital from limited partners. The yields on these safer investments have risen, making them more appealing to investors, especially as PE exits and fund distributions have decreased. A bond sell-off has driven the 10-year Treasury note yield to 4.9%, surpassing the S&P 500 for the first time in over a decade. Cheaper long-term bonds are expected to persist as the Treasury plans to issue a high volume of them in the next 12 to 15 months. Allocators may turn to Treasury bonds for predictable returns, potentially diverting capital from riskier parts of their portfolios. Meanwhile, PE's outsize fund performance of recent years has been touching back down to reality alongside the rest of the private markets, with 1-year-horizon IRRs at 1%, lower than 3- and 5-year horizons. Exits through the year are lagging behind the 2022 mark, leading to lower distributions for limited partners and potentially affecting PE buyout fundraising in 2024. Trailing 12-month buyout fund distributions as a % of a fund's starting NAV has fallen to 11% from 37% less than 2 years ago. #treasuries #investing #privateequity #fundraising #dpi

We were quoted regarding ETFs by U.S. News & World Report in two separate articles this week by reporter Tony Dong, MSc, CETF®, "5 Great Fixed-Income Funds to Buy Now" and "7 Best Vanguard Bond Funds to Buy." ✍🏽Unlike bond mutual funds, shares of bond ETFs trade throughout the day. Therefore, instead of putting in a buy order that fills at one price at the end of day, investors can trade these ETFs just like stocks. "Some of the best bond ETFs have low fees, track close to their net asset value, have very tight bid-ask spreads of a penny or less and performance that closely hugs [their] benchmark," says Michael Ashley Schulman, partner and chief investment officer at Running Point Capital Advisors. ✍🏽A great Vanguard bond ETF to pair with BND is BNDX. "BNDX offers diversification benefits by including investment-grade bonds issued by governments and corporations outside the United States, and thus provides exposure to international bonds denominated in various currencies," says Michael Ashley Schulman, partner and chief investment officer at Running Point Capital Advisors. #Vanguard #investing #bogle #bonds #ETF #WealthManagement #UHNWI ~~ "We deliver custom investment solutions, family office services, innovations, and unique perspectives to you and your family—we are your family office—you can emphasize your enjoyments, priorities, and legacy.” ~~ Disclosure: The opinions expressed are those of Running Point Capital Advisors, LLC (Running Point) and are subject to change without notice. Are You A Small Cap Mutual Fund Investor? In the past few days, there has been a lot of discussion about small and mid-sized company stocks. SEBI mentioned that they are going to come up with a formal stress test disclosure format for mutual funds. The purpose of this is to determine the time required for mutual fund schemes to exit their portfolio in times of stress or redemption pressure. Yesterday, the small-cap index is down 5% to a 12-week low. Do you have investments in small-cap and mid cap funds? Here are a few steps you can take: Evaluate Your Investment Timeframe:- Did you invest in these funds for quick gains? Small and mid-cap funds are generally suited for longer investment horizons, as they can weather market fluctuations better over time. Review Your Risk Appetite:- Before making any decision, assess your risk tolerance. Are you comfortable if your midcap and small-cap funds become volatile and give negative? Talk to your financial advisor. Analyze Your Asset Allocation:- Understand the current percentage of your portfolio invested in small and mid-cap stocks. This will help you determine if you are exposed beyond your comfort level. Consider Rebalancing:- If your small and mid-cap allocation exceeds your risk tolerance, you can rebalance it to return to your original allocation. Increase Cash Reserves:- Maintain an adequate emergency fund to cover unexpected expenses. This can prevent you from selling your investments at a loss during a downturn. Market Research:- Keep updated on economic news, industry trends, and market analyses. This will help you make informed decisions about your investments. Consult Your Advisor:- Whenever you don't know what to do, it would be best to consult your financial planner. He or she can guide you based on your circumstances and risk tolerance. Don't forget to follow Yogesh Kshirsagar more such insights. #investment #smallcap #midcap #sebi
