I recently finished my fellowship at the Institute for Youth in Policy (YIP), and the experience was honestly amazing. The program offered a really interesting curriculum delivered over two intensive months. This period was immensely enriching, giving me a fresh perspective on how I see things. The dedication and collaborative spirit fostered by YIP were truly inspiring. The program's value was such that I consistently made an effort to attend sessions, even as early as 4:30 am IST, to ensure I actively contributed to discussions (and trust me, it was worth it).
My Takeaways:
-This Fellowship seriously took my research skills to the next level. While making my capstone project the amount of research I had to do, I had to understand how to find credible sources, and I had to make sure all my statements were backed up by sources.
-Working with all my other talented fellows at YIP showed me the importance of collaboration and communication. I thank them for being so supportive and encouraging.
-YIP taught me how to set clear goals, not get carried away from the topic at hand, and divide my work into manageable chunks.
-YIP gave me a new perspective on how to look at policy in itself and how to always dig deeper to get to the grassroots level of anything.
This experience was just something else. From making strategies for an election candidate to delivering the closing statements for an International Criminal Court Mock Trial to discussing major socio-economic issues, this experience is one I will never forget.
