📢 The Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom (DfT) is accepting expressions of interest from local authorities for brand new e-scooter trials 📢 It's open to local authorities that do not already have an e-scooter trial in their area, and is an exciting opportunity to join the 22 trials already underway across England! We've been running three e-scooter trials across the Solent area since 2020. These trials have captured invaluable data on e-scooter usage, mode shift, safety, equity and diversity and user perceptions. For example, within just over 1 year of launching, 283,000 car and taxi trips had been replaced by rental e-scooters. These data are shared regularly with the DfT to help inform future policy. The concept of taxis have been around since the 17th century and while the industry has experienced a recent resurgence, the #transportation landscape has changed significantly with the introduction of ride-sharing services and changing consumer demand. Felix Shneur, owner of Metro Cab, the largest taxi-cab fleet in greater #Boston, recently joined Nightside with Dan Rea on WBZ Newsradio 1030 to discuss the evolution of taxis and the future ahead. Shneur walks through some of the challenges the industry faced and how they were able to bounce back in the increasingly competitive space. According to Shneur, this comeback was largely due to the innovative solutions provided by Curb.
