We're joining forces with Athena STEM Women to help elevate the lives and careers of women in STEM and beyond - and last week we kicked off our partnership with a bang! No frowns were spotted, despite the fact that most attendees were looking to sharpen their interview skills following recent layoffs. Far from discouraged, everyone was in high spirits - excited to learn, almost as much as they were excited to embark on a new adventure. We're lucky to play a small part in their - and your - lives, and are looking forward to what's next alongside the Athena team! #STEMCareers #WomenInSTEM #WomenInTech

Reflecting on an Incredible Panel Discussion - I had the honor of being a panelist in a thought-provoking Women in Tech Leader Panel, with about 200 employees participating globally and I'm filled with inspiration from the insightful discussions, shared experiences and even the questions from the audience! Throughout the event, we delved into: Overcoming Challenges: We shared personal stories of resilience on the face of setbacks and the importance of authenticity in finding fulfillment; highlighting the importance of navigating unconscious bias, assumptions and stereotypes in the tech industry. Allyship in Action: It was heartening to witness the active role men played as allies in promoting diversity and fostering inclusive environments. Their genuine support and commitment were truly commendable. Empowerment & Advocacy: We discussed valuable strategies for women to thrive in their tech careers, emphasizing the role of empowerment, self-advocacy, and mentorship. We also talked about evolving technology creating opportunities for career growth and the importance of embracing new opportunities. I'm grateful to Optum, UnitedHealth Group for the opportunity to connect with such inspiring and powerful leaders and for the enriching conversations last week. Today we're bringing you our next role model with a twist: Fe+male Tech Heroes role model #49 is actually a dynamic duo! Meet Astrid Pouwels and Eliene Rutten, two women advancing medical device development in the region 💪. These remarkable ladies are engineers by trade and now hold leadership roles as project managers at Demcon. Despite their similar roles today, they started their journeys from different studies and different starting points in their careers After working for startups post-graduation, both women were hired by Demcon to work in medical technology and product development. Their different backgrounds have informed their perspectives on their work and on the importance of diversity and equality in their field 🤲. Pouwels and Rutten see firsthand the impact of diversity on company culture and innovation. For them, Demcon provides an open, welcoming and diverse environment, where individuals feel valued and supported regardless of gender. It makes all the difference in individual empowerment and personal development in a STEM career. “It's not like women should be like men. It's not like we should be like male leaders. We can do it in a very authentic way that fits us. For a woman, that might be very different,” Rutten believes. Pouwels feels the same way. “It's not my method to be very overpowering in a meeting. That’s not my style,” she says. “Finding your own way of leadership is important.” Read the full article to explore their story, their experience at Demcon and their insights into the importance of equality for leadership and empowering new generations 🚀: https://lnkd.in/eR4xV2At #femaletechheroes #tech #innovation #diversity #inclusion #empowerment #engineering #management #STEM #womeninSTEM #rolemodel

🧠 NEW BLOG POST ON INDIANA WOMEN IN TECH WEEK: AM I TECH? 🧠 https://lnkd.in/gJau7nWe A few weeks back, I teased a question that's been on many minds since Indiana Women IN Tech Week first took shape in 2023: "Linda, who qualifies as tech?" It's a query that's far from straightforward, as tech weaves its way into virtually every industry. No amount of my dazzling legal obfuscation or “Look, there’s a unicorn!” could relieve me of this question! In my latest blog post, "Am I Tech?" I tackle this complex question head-on. I explore the multifaceted world of tech careers, dissecting what makes a role distinctly "tech"—from coding and software development to product management and HR. I aim to illuminate how these diverse roles may contribute to the broader tech landscape. Whether you’re immersed in the tech world, serve as an executive, or are simply intrigued by the question, this post is designed to offer clarity and insight. Don’t miss your chance to delve into the evolving definition of tech jobs. Click the link to read more! Please note, this blog post reflects my personal perspectives and vernacular. 🌟 Dare to Be Different! 🌟 "Why blend in when you were born to stand out?" 💥 Reflecting on the recent Girl Squad event with Raji Rajagopalan, VP of Product at Microsoft, I'm filled with gratitude for the invaluable insights shared and the empowering community we've built together. 68 out of the 80 women who registered, attended the event. One of the key takeaways from our discussion was the importance of taking risks, empowering others, and staying curious. These actionable insights resonate deeply with me, especially as a brown girl navigating the tech industry. When I moved to Seattle in 2019, finding friends as an adult proved to be quite challenging. The years 2020 and 2021 only reinforced this realization, highlighting the need for a supportive community of women who understand the unique challenges we face. It was on Women's Day of 2022 that I decided to take matters into my own hands and started "Girl Squad". It began in a common area of my apartment, with the simple goal of connecting with other women like me, navigating life's ups and downs. Girl Squad isn't just a community; it's a movement. It's about breaking barriers, pushing boundaries, and redefining success on our own terms. It's about creating a space where every woman feels seen, heard, and empowered to thrive. If you are a female or someone who recognizes themselves as a female in Seattle, do join us and follow us on IG to know about future events. https://lnkd.in/dX5UGBfr So, here's to daring to be different, to embracing our uniqueness, and to lifting each other up along the way. Thank you to Raji Rajagopalan for her time and wisdom, and to each and every member of Girl Squad for being part of this incredible journey. If you attended the event, please comment below on what you loved about it. If you would want to attend future event, comment below too. Together, we're unstoppable! 💪 . . #DareToBeDifferent #GirlSquadSeattle #Empowerment #ChangeMakers #browngirlintech #microsoftlife #microsoft #womenitech #womeninproduct #productmanagers #developers #datascientists #womenempoweringwomen

Trusted Advisor to Women in Leadership | I Help Elite Executives & Women Founders Go From "Just" Successful to Ridiculously Successful & Deeply Fulfilled | Leadership & Executive Excellence
Big Tech layoffs continue... On the other hand, start-ups and small to medium tech and biotech companies are dying for the right talent to propel them forward, innovate, and get ahead in this market. - WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY THIS POST IS SO IMPORTANT! - Look at your retention rates for women. You may find the number alarming. The biggest challenge both Tech & BioTech companies face isn't attracting women in leadership, it's holding on to them. Because the type of women who can lead your team in a crisis, drive innovation, and build a culture that engages and motivates your people, aren't going to wait around for you to notice or elevate them! ❗❗❗This is catastrophic❗❗❗ Women drive 70-80% of all consumer purchasing through buying power and influence. Without women to lead and shape your business strategy and product/service development, I guarantee you're losing appeal & opportunities with these powerhouse consumers. It doesn't take much to hold on to your best and brightest women — and if you're experiencing high turnover, it’s not them, it’s you. Over the past 2 years, Tech companies especially have paid great lip service 💋 and little money 💰 towards actually doing what it takes to support and elevate women. Thanks to this, women will be waiting almost another 50 years before their representation matches their share of the US population (according the a McKinsey + LeanIn report). 🍀 Luckily, there’s something you can do to change that 🍀 Noteworthy has proven and specialized programs for the upcoming and existing women leaders on your teams. Our solutions build visibility, authority, impact, & fulfillment. Women operate better, build greater success, are happier & THEY STAY! Which is exactly why top CEOs in engineering, tech, and biotech companies have brought us in to: • Develop EQ & soft skills of their highly technical women. • Hone next-level leadership skills to support powerhouse women in male-dominated industries. • Build the authority, confidence, & influence of the women leaders they're grooming to take over their companies. We help companies understand where and why they are losing their high-impact, high-performing talent, and then we help them fix the problem. Ready to strengthen your company from the inside out — and leave a better world in their wake? CPO at Dynatrace I Visionary People & Culture leader driving global employee & candidate experiences I Board Director
"Don't waste your time because they don't take women in this job" This advice was once given to one of our panelists at the #Perform2024 Women in Tech Panel. Now, she's a top tech leader, proving how wrong that suggestion was. Last week, at our #Dynatrace flagship conference in Las Vegas, I spoke with inspiring female leaders in tech: Jolly Mishra, Laura Heisman, and Terese Pate. We talked about what it takes to innovate and lead in a male-dominated industry, challenges, and how we can lift up other women to follow in our footsteps. Thank you, Jolly, Laura, and Terese, for sharing your stories and being the role models we all need. Some of my highlights: 🔸 It's okay to be a "nerd ": Coding, chess, or #STEM enthusiasm—whether it's a passion for you or your child, these are skills to be proud of and will be central to tomorrow's innovations. 🔸 Spark tech interest in kids: Just like bedtime stories and playground tales, talk about tech at home to get kids excited about STEM from a young age. 🔸 Proactively seek diversity: Diversity doesn't happen by chance. It's created by reaching out and inviting a mix of talents to the table. 🔸 Own your expertise: Remind yourself and other women in tech that they don't need to meet impossible standards to excel. 🔸 Rebrand career opportunities: Presenting various stories and personalities in tech at career fairs or on career pages is crucial. It challenges women to see themselves in new, innovative roles. If you're curious to hear more, the on-demand session is up and waiting for you. Check out the comments for the link to the full session. #WomenInTech #DiversityInTech #DynatraceLife #WomenOfDynatrace
