Multiple concerns about the staffing shortage in nursing homes and the new minimum mandate. With unemployment rates as low as 3% to 4%, finding qualified candidates can be a challenge. What strategies can help ? - Partnering with local nursing schools or community colleges to recruit new graduates? - Offer competitive wages and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent ? several nursing homes are struggling just to break even.

Nurse Educator | Leader | Professional Development Specialist | An empowered nurse who strives to empower fellow nurses through continuing education and professional development.
Nursing instincts never take a day off—whether it’s for humans or animals. Last night, I found myself leaning on those same instincts when my roommate’s dog wasn’t feeling well. It was subtle—the kind of uneasiness only someone tuned into caring for others could notice. My nurse-spidey senses kicked in, and I had to persuade my roommate to bring Lucy to the emergency vet clinic. It reminded me that nursing isn’t just a profession, it’s an innate feeling, a way of being. Even when I’m not in the clinical area, my ability to assess, act, and care remains active. Nursing is universally applicable, not just to people but to all beings who rely on compassion, observation, and intervention. The heart of nursing lies in caring. Whether it’s for a patient in the ICU or a pet at home, that same drive to ensure someone’s well-being remains constant. It’s more than a set of clinical skills—it’s an innate calling to care, and that transcends species, environments, and circumstances. We learn to listen, to observe the unspoken signs, and to trust our gut when something isn’t right. That’s the power of being a nurse—it’s about applying those principles to anyone or anything in need of care, no matter where you are. So, while I may not always be in scrubs or at a bedside, my commitment to care is always there, just below the surface, ready to spring into action—whether for a person or a beloved pet. #NursingLife #NurseInstincts #UniversalCare #HealthcareProfessionals #NurseEverywhere #CompassionInAction
