Kaiser Was Unsuccessful Because: 1) Kaiser did not have the local, large #CriticalMass of members from a #Union or #Government Employees that is necessary to fund the doctors, clinics and hospitals in the early days of operations. 2) The local #doctor and #hospital communities were adversarial to the vertically integrated, #HMO model of care. Bob Casey has alleged that Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health System prioritizes profits over quality care and is demanding the system find a trustworthy buyer for two of its Pennsylvania hospitals it plans to sell. This is the kind of political grandstanding I find despicable. 9. AHA to federal court: Vacate FTC's non-compete ban Erica Carbajal The American Hospital Association is intensifying its efforts to challenge the Federal Trade Commission's non-compete ban from taking effect. On July 26, the AHA and the Federation of American Hospitals filed an amicus brief in a Texas federal court, urging the court to vacate the final rule. 10. Our 2023 Annual Report has launched! It’s no secret that Rhode Island’s primary care system is in crisis. Our industry is experiencing pressure at new levels in our post-pandemic world. At the Care Transformation Collaborative of RI, we have worked diligently to support primary care investment, bolster our workforce through new initiatives and programs, and deepen our community-centered work to improve care. In our 2023 Annual Report, we share powerful examples of the real work happening in RI through CTC-RI to address and respond to our industry’s needs. As we move through the year ahead, our efforts to transform our system continue. While we build, support, and advocate for advancements in primary care, we continue building a stronger, more resilient care system to support RI today and tomorrow.

Anticipated demographic changes will test health systems like never before. Ontario’s population is expected to grow, with larger increases expected in those over 65 years. The number of Ontarians living with major illnesses across all age groups is also expected to rise. As such, hospitals are taking important steps to innovate and reinvent how care is delivered in their communities. This is a great example of how hospitals are developing creative and collaborative solutions to build a better system of care to meet Ontarian’s mounting health care needs, which are also becoming more complex. It's also an important testament to hospitals' track record of leadership, their willingness and ability to adapt, and their commitment to delivering on the promise of universal access to care.   #BuildingBetterCare #HospitalInnovation #HeretoCare
