Let’s be honest, shall we? Most of the nurses do not understand the challenges and complexities involved in operating a not-for-profit organization. It’s not part of the Graduate Nurse curriculum. Most administrators do not understand the emotional and physical challenges of providing appropriate patient care at the bedside. It’s not part of the Hospital Administrator curriculum. Perhaps it’s time (overdue, actually) for both Nursing and Administrative leaders to immerse themselves in the experiences each side faces on a daily basis. Transparency is needed.
