One of the many ways we’re helping New Zealand towards net-zero is through our Certified product and Community Decarbonisation Fund. This fund supports community and business projects – typically solar panels and EVs – aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Over the last two years it’s distributed $1.5 million in funding! That represents 100% of the net proceeds earned from Certified – Meridian’s certified renewable energy product. This lets #business customers match their electricity consumption with an equivalent amount generated by one of our hydro stations or wind farms. They can then report their market-based Scope 2 emissions – the ones linked to electricity usage – as zero.
