Companies: if you’re going to host a Men’s March Madness pool for your office, please host a pool for Women’s March Madness, too. Female employees are watching and taking note. Nothing stings quite like someone assuming that no one wants to submit a women’s bracket or the games aren’t as fun to watch or just…forgetting that the Women’s tournament exists. It’s 2024. The Women’s field is STACKED. This is such a simple way to walk the walk when it comes to equal representation. Take five minutes and create the pool. If you build it, people will come. And who knows - maybe entering a second pool can redeem you if your bracket is busted by the round of 32. 😉 #womenshistorymonth #marchmadness

#oxymoron I was having a conversation with my friend, and he asked me,Why is it that Independence Day celebrations at the office often come with a dress code? Isn't freedom about choice?" 🤔 What do you think? Let me know your views in the comment section. 😅 #IndependenceDay #CelebrateYourWay #oxymoron

Would you rather be unable to see or have to wear eyeglasses that embarrass you? That's the question that opened the eyes of VisionSpring founder, Jordan Kassalow, when he was volunteering in Colombia in 1987. Dr. Kassalow met Noka, a woman from a rural community who took a full day to visit their eye care outreach camp. "By U.S. standards, Noka was legally blind," wrote Jordan in his book, 'Dare to Matter.' "After examining her eyes, however, I was able to find the one pair of used eyeglasses we had that were a 100 percent match for the prescription she needed." But three days later, Noka returned because her friends and family were mocking her and Jordan understood why — the glasses he had given her were 1950's cat-eye style with rhinestones and Coke-bottle lenses. Not something she would have chosen for herself. Jordan brought this insight to the founding of VisionSpring, "[It's] the difference between what it feels like to have to take whatever someone has to give, and having the power to choose for yourself." Since Day 1, we have offered style options for eyeglasses. We proactively seek feedback, and update our designs to match what people want. By providing choice, we respect people's dignity, confidence, and identity. And by supporting our partners in adopting stylish, affordable, glasses, we can ensure that everyone has the 'Dignity of Choice.' #DignityOfChoice #SocialEntrepreneurship

R.E.A.D. 🤓 But only if you have time between back-to-back zoom/teams mtgs. Refreshing reminder & wake-up call (again) ⏰ for our industry. Thanks 🙏 Cindy Gallop & Campaign US we need this. A few TLDR pts: 💡1) On the disappearing of agency brands: "I am horrified that an industry that claims to be about building strong, sustainable brands for our clients is failing to do the same for itself." 💡2) On the true Golden Age of Advertising: "I am here to tell you that it has not even begun because we have not even begun to see what this industry can be when it welcomes in the lens of women and people of color." 💡3) On the devaluation of our industry: "Clients value you at the value you're seeing to put in yourself and we have, as I say, been colluding in our own de-valuation." 💡4) On "Collaborative competition" vs. "Competitive collaboration": former is bad idea because it's race to the bottom while the latter = ‘a rising tide floats all boats’ 💡5) On new biz pitches: "...never waste your time banging your head against closed doors. Instead engineer yourself into a position where doors open automatically as you approach. And if you make your agency brand desirable enough by doing the very best work for the best clients you can find and putting it out there, you will absolutely find that clients will come to you, begging you to accept them as clients without having to pitch."
'Hire women: They do all the work and take none of the credit’: Cindy Gallop gets candid with Campaign

Being a woman in the #business world is incredibly exciting right now. There’s a surge in representation, with more women stepping into influential roles and making their mark across different industries. The #energy that women bring to the table is unparalleled. It’s inspiring to see how women are actively shaping the future of business. We’re seeing increased opportunities for women to start their own ventures, lead groundbreaking projects, influence industry standards and take on leadership opportunities that were not available a few years ago. Support networks and mentorship programs are at the heart of this progress, especially at HUB International. The connections being made are forever changing the path for future generations of women in business. Thrive. Collaborate. Lead with confidence. …then teach others how to do the same. #womeninbusiness #womenininsurance #leadership #mentorship #community #riskmanagement

International Women’s Day is a celebration of how far we’ve come but also an opportunity to take stock of the distance we still need to travel. Imagine for a moment being female and living with sight loss. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been offered a helping, but wandering, hand on my way home. Harassment is an engrained part of the female experience. It shouldn’t be, but it is. There’s a murmur of change in the air, it feels as if the public conversation is beginning to shift and we’re talking about why things have got to be different. Like many blind and partially sighted people, I rely on my phone and my white cane to navigate but this puts a target on my back when travelling alone. RNIB’s research found that one in five women with sight loss are concerned about using a white cane for the same reason as me, and over half avoid being alone because they feel unsafe and vulnerable. For women with sight loss, every day presents a new dilemma. Are offers of assistance genuine or laced with other intent? For me, I’m often overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers, but experience tells me that they can equally pose a threat. My message to our sighted allies is simple – read the room. By all means offer to help but if your offer is declined, please accept that at face value. If you see someone being hassled, step in. No one should be afraid to leave the house because they are a woman or because they are visually impaired, or both. For those leading the national conversation that’s now unfolding, don’t forget there are now 1.3 million blind and partially sighted women, of which 200,000 are registered blind, who need to be accounted for in finding a solution. This International Women’s Day let’s turn that murmur into a roar. [Image description: RNIB Trustees Isabel Hunt, Liz Walker, Kamiqua Lake (nèe Pearce) and Chair Anna Tylor walk down a cobbled street together in a line at the Ulster Folk Museum, Northern Ireland. They're all dressed smart-casually. The sky is grey but all four women are smiling.] #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2024 Picture credit: Michael Cooper Photography
