"I was in the room with a lot of people who didn’t look like me, and that’s when I learned that less than 2% of women are getting VC funding. I thought it was a misquote - I thought it was a mistake. I think that everyone should have that reaction when they hear these numbers of how many women are getting investments." - Serena Williams, Tennis Champion and Founder of Serena Ventures. Last month, Endeavor Entrepreneur Robin Gregg and Advisory Council Member Kim Seals joined the panel after the screening of Show Her The Money. The film highlights a critical issue: women receive less than 2% of venture capital funding. Show Her The Money features powerful female investors backing diverse women entrepreneurs with game-changing innovations. It follows four visionary entrepreneurs overcoming challenges to turn their ideas into reality. With the support and mentorship of angel investors, these women show incredible resilience and potential to build billion-dollar businesses. We're proud to support this important conversation and to stand with women entrepreneurs driving change! 💪🌟 #endeavorentrepreneurs #womeninbusiness #venturecapital #womeninvestors #femalefounders

I'm not a bro but I'm wiked smart. Female founders burn through cash at a slower pace and exit sooner at a higher rate than male founders, according to PitchBook . However only 2% of VC funding went to female founders last year! 💡The glaring factor behind the imbalance is that 85% of VC investors are men. ⛔️The lack of female representation leads to an obvious bias. "There are more founders named Michael, David and Andrew than there are women CEOs.” How do women get representation in a culture that does not include us? Knowledge is power. 2% of the $3.5 Trillion Venture Capitalist deployed funding goes to women, despite the fact that 30% of start-ups include at least one female founder. Thank you to the The Roux Institute at Northeastern University for highlighting the challenge and inequity that female founders are experiencing when accessing capital for their start-up businesses. The system needs to change, women need access to capital. I appreciated the candid dialogue and discussion from the panel and the opportunity to hear from the lived experiences of founders, limited partners, and angel investors in-person and through the screening of Show Her the Money. I encourage everyone to check out showherthemoneymovie.com; it will be 90 minutes well spent and I guarantee that you will either learn something new or relate to one of the founder stories. #angelinvesting #entreprenuership #femalefounders

Driven by research findings that female-led businesses generate twice as much revenue per pound invested, despite receiving half the capital, newly formed Lifted Ventures is on a mission to drive change in the female founder space. “Too often the conversation focuses on disparity, gender funding gaps, barriers and challenges. Lifted Ventures is focusing on opportunity,” said Helen Oldham, co-founder of Lifted Ventures, Angel Investor and Board member of the UK Business Angels Association and a member of the Women Angel Investment task force. Please share with women founders in your network! ⬇️ I want to share an important resource with all the amazing women founders out there called Landscape. This platform allows founders to anonymously review and rate investors, providing transparency and accountability in the VC space. As women entrepreneurs, it’s crucial to have a safe space where we can share our experiences and insights about the investment community. Landscape helps ensure that the focus remains on our innovative ideas and business potential, rather than the unacceptable harassment and bias some have faced after pitching to male VCs or angels. One horror story surfaced (thank you for sharing!) at Allyship between Founders and VC's: Female Founders Meetup event at Latitude59. And I’m personally done with this! By utilizing Landscape, we can collectively uplift the standards of the industry, ensuring that professionalism and respect are at the forefront of all investor-founder interactions. I’ll leave the website link in the first comment! #WomenFounders #VCTransparency #Latitude59 #fundfemalefounders #Entrepreneurship #LandscapeVC

About last night... Boston hosted its first screening of the ground-breaking movie: Show Her The Money! This documentary shares WHY you want to invest in female founders and, more importantly, HOW to invest in female founders. Executive Producers Catherine Gray (She Angel Investors), Dawn Lafreeda (Den-Tex Central, Inc.) and Wendy Ryan (Kadabra, Golden Seeds) are on a mission to change the current dismal funding landscape for women owned and led businesses and are teaching women how to write checks and pool their financial resources to back female founders. Throughout the movie you witness first hand the hurdles and struggles women experience trying to raise capital, especially in the Venture Capital arena, where they receive less than 2% of the funds (it's less than 1% in Massachusetts 😱). Through captivating storytelling, Show Her The Money takes you on an exciting journey, following 4 visionary founders (cheering wildly for our local featured FAB female founder Marian Leitner-Waldman of Archer Roose Wines) as they endure the uphill battles of founderhood to turn their ideas into reality. Despite their dedication, traction and passion, these extraordinary founders are constantly challenged by money constraints. It's delicious to watch how seasoned women investors (you are my Shero Pocket Sun!) step up and show up to write significant checks and help the 4 founders build their businesses and achieve their milestones and success. Show Her The Money illustrates how we waste our time thinking the male-dominated VC world will change its ways. It won't. The only way to change the funding landscape for female founders and BIPOC, LGBTQ+ founders is to have women writing the checks. Think Emily's List - they taught women how to fund political campaigns. Show Her The Money is teaching women how to fund female founders. Please reach out to Catherine and her team at Show Her The Money to learn how you can have a screening of Show Her The Money in your hometown. Let's make the change we want to see in the world... together! #femalefounders #showherthemoney #fundfemalefounders #venturecapital #angelinvestors
