After spending some time at Florida Physio, Dr. Leighton Peavler said something that has stuck with me. There are four domains to being a successful golfer. 1) Technique 2) Equipment 3) Mindset 4) Physical Abilities. The best golfers in the world have a balance of all 4 of these. In Wisconsin, the domain of physical abilities is HIGHLY disregarded. People are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on new equipment every year and don’t see improvements in their abilities. This is just masking the lacking domains and not addressing the underlying issues. Similar to healthcare today, there is a quickly increasing epidemic of obesity and type II diabetes. We are pounding patients with medications and masking the root causes of a sedentary lifestyle, inadequate nutrition, poor sleep habits, and so much more. As Wisconsin’s golf season is slowly winding down, it’s a good time to start developing a plan to address these domains, especially the physical abilities. I created a FREE golf-specific mobility program to start players in the right direction and help improve their physical ability domains to reach their full potential. Direct message me or email me at shuttergolfpt@gmail.com for the FREE program! ⛳️🏋️♀️ ... #golf #golffitness #mobility #golfmobility #physicaltherapy #ptstudent #golftraining #golfperformance #apta #advocacy #golfersareathletes #healthylifestyle #swingfast #increasedistance #wisconsingolf

It’s GSR event week and with so many of you getting involved, here are my top 5 event week tips to have you raring to go on race day: 1. Try to relax - This is easier said than done but getting too up tight and nervous will have a negative impact on your race day performance. Trust the hard work you have put in during training and let race day take care of itself. 2. Taper down your training - You want to be at the start line feeling as fresh as possible, therefore you don't want to be hitting a heavy leg session 2 days before, or a fast paced interval session just ahead of race day. I would make all running easy running, and have two days off strength training prior to the race. 3. Focus on your recovery - Things like stretching, foam rolling, ice baths, saunas and sports massages are all great things to incorporate during event week, again ensuring you are in the best shape possible for the event! 4. Get the carbs in! - Increasing your carbohydrate intake will ensure your glycogen stores are topped up ahead of the vent, meaning you have a full tank of energy from the start 🏃♂️ 5. Be prepared! - make sure you have your kit laid out, your travel plans, your childcare plans, your playlist and race day nutrition all sorted out ahead of time - you want as little stress as possible on event day and doing all of this will enable that! I hope these tips are useful and good luck to everyone getting after it on Sunday! #theprogressproject

Behaviours… I’ve just spent a wonderful couple of days on a break with the very lovely Barbara Hamilton-Bruce and our ponies Garry and Ollie. Spending so much time with the ponies, watching how they are with each other and us, focused my attention on behaviours. How horses respond to stimuli is very obvious, they react immediately and often dramatically! This led me to reflect on workplace behaviours and safety (because even on holiday, health and safety is always at the forefront my mind!) Ok, so let’s analyse this, we’ve all seen the signs, usually on construction or manufacturing sites, sometimes accompanied by a mirror: 🫵“You are responsible for your health and safety” Really? Is that right? I mean of course it’s right to an extent but is that the whole picture? Ok so I’m no psychologist (I leave that to the experts like Tim Marsh) but in my humble view, behaviour is the result of so many stimuli, rather like Garry and Ollie. They responded to their environment and their behaviour adapted with it. The most telling was when we took them to a great open expanse of beach. We expected uncontrolled outbursts. What we got was some exuberance but two ponies that found comfort in each other; their behaviour mirrored their friend’s. They were nervous of the sheer lack of boundaries so stuck close to each other. What am I trying to say? 🤔Our behaviours in the workplace are a result of many stimuli; handing over responsibility for health and safety to the individual is foolish. People can only thrive if given the right environment to do so. 🐎 Garry and Ollie learnt from each other and supported each other. In the workplace we learn from those around us and our behaviour reflects this. We are all health and safety leaders and must be aware of the impact our behaviour has on those around us. Oh and we had a lovely time thanks ☺️ 🐎 and yes I am filming whilst riding, I assessed the risk! #healthandsafety #behaviours #horselife

Helping senior nurses and allied health professionals, manage the challenges of working relationships, so they can reduce stress and anxiety in the workplace.
☔A wet Winter is upon us. We are very fortunate that our garden is just very soggy and muddy and our lovely cabin remains accessible for guests. 🌹I came across this photo today on my phone of lighter drier days last Summer when the roses were in bloom and form the perfect relaxing scene for sitting outside the cabin. 👋🥦Each year the garden changes, the cabin guests come and go, the planting alters, more veg go in. Everything moves on in nature, but the structured changes and maintenance are our doing. It made me think about how determined we are to make alterations to our lives, whether it be personal, professional or practical, and what drives us. My example is not about dissatisfaction, but enhancement and increasing productivity. In your clinical environment think about all the times you have made changes to improve patient care, to build services, to teach, to learn, to grow. Or to improve your relationships at work. It all started off with something. 🌷Spring is just around the corner! What will your “something” be for 2024? DM me here on LinkedIn and l'll help you get started. #professionalrelationhsips #seniornurse #coaching

Member review: Dan! 🤩 "I’ve only been training at Coalition Performance for a short time but the guys have been incredibly helpful with helping me achieve my goals." 🗣 You might remember a few weeks back we shared the brilliant achievements from Dan who has set the gym floor on fire since joining with us 16 weeks ago! Just recently, he left us some very kind words about his experience with us so far.🔥 Dan has continued to build on his early momentum and in just over 3 weeks since reporting on his early hard work, he has: ✅ Improved his bench press by another 13%! ✅ Taken his hinge pattern exercises up by 14%! ✅ Progressed to more complex lower limb exercises which require greater strength and stability! ✅ Continued to put in the work with his nutrition! Dan has not got comfortable and whilst achievements are great to celebrate, there are still more to be had if you continue the hard work you have already put in. 💪 We are excited to see where Dan now takes his journey with us as we head into the winter period! 👏 Here is the full review left by Dan which can be found on our Google page: "I’ve only been training at Coalition Performance for a short time but the guys have been incredibly helpful with helping me achieve my goals. Everything they have provided has had a full rationale and all the benefits of the plan made for me have been outlined thorugh each session. The additional advice on nutrition has made it a lot clearer and simpler especially as there is a lot of information out there which isn’t always helpful. I’m looking forward to seeing where I can get to with the help of all the guys." #rehabsolihull #strengthandconditioningsolihull #rehabbirmingham #personaltrainingbirmingham #PTsolihull #ptbirmingham #fitnessmotivation #injuryrehab #youthtraining #youthstrengthandconditioning
