#Understanding_the_Difference_Between_Architecture #Draftsman_and_Civil_Draftsman_Roles In the world of construction and design, the roles of an architecture draftsman and a civil draftsman are often mentioned, but they serve distinct purposes. If you're exploring career paths in these fields or collaborating with professionals in construction, it's essential to understand the differences: #Architecture_Draftsman - Focuses on creating detailed drawings for buildings and structures. - Works closely with architects to bring their designs to life, producing floor plans, elevations, sections, and other detailed views. - Emphasizes aesthetic considerations, functionality, and compliance with building codes. - Typically involved in residential, commercial, and industrial building projects. #Civil_Draftsman - Specializes in drafting for infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other public works. - Collaborates with civil engineers to produce technical drawings that detail the layout, dimensions, and construction methods of these projects. - Focuses on the technical and structural aspects rather than design aesthetics. - Plays a crucial role in the planning and development of public infrastructure. Both roles are vital in their respective areas, requiring a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and proficiency in CAD software. Whether you're drawn to the aesthetic side of architecture or the technical challenges of civil engineering, both paths offer rewarding careers. #Architecture #CivilEngineering #Drafting #Construction #CareerPaths #DesignAndBuild

Here are some of the preliminary drawings for our new office. In another life I could be a commercial developer or draftsman. Getting work closely with Dj Cleek of CleekCo through the site layout and meetings with the City of Fortuna has been a really fun experience so far. Parking regulations, maintaining safe lines of sight for driving, ADA access, etc. are all things I’ve been adjacent to, but never knew how much I didn’t know about it. Designing a building that serves a completely different purpose than a home is also interesting. Instinctively you may think the curb appeal and attractiveness of a commercial building would matter less than a custom home, but oddly enough it seems to almost matter more in some ways now that I’m in the nitty gritty of it. It’s a place you and other professionals come, in short, to attempt to become more successful, inspire and impress clients, and the building and the lot it’s on play a huge role in all of that. At least in my opinion.

Freelance Construction Supervision Expert | Real Estate Brand Influencer | Delivering Excellence in Construction
Are you sure your site workers are doing things right? Generally, columns are subjected to great axial forces and bending moments. They must be well placed in order to safely transfer superstructure loads from the apex down to the foundation which will eventually safely distribute the loads to the soil Talking about safe transfer of loads, this brings us to a very important aspect of detailing/ placing column reinforcement on site - LAPPING When lapping column rebars, part of the many things your workers should take note of on site includes; (1) The distance between the two lapped bars should be zero. You want a proper point of contact between the previous and coming bars (2) Provided transverse links should be closely spaced; paying a very good attention to the recommendation given by the structural engineer. Oftentimes, when the lapping bars have dia exceeding 20mm and the cover is <1.5 x dia of the smaller bar, these links are provided. (ALWAYS CARRY YOUR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ALONG) (3) If dia of bars is <36mm ensure a lap length of 50D , considering the smaller dia as your D if the bars are of different diameters. (4) Lap bars alternatively to reduce the chances of buckling Whatever doing at all is worth doing well. Engage trusted hands in your projects and avoid the issue of 'had I known ' You can have the best of designs/blueprints but without strict supervision to achieve quality execution on site, your blueprints are next to nothing Be it on a freelance/ short term or contractual basis, If you need an experienced hand in supervising your Construction projects to ensure all processes are executed according to plans, I am just a DM away. What other measures do you take in ensuring safe load transmission in Columns when lapping?
