🌟 A Lesson from a Patient🌟 I remember one day on the ward, I met a patient who taught me something valuable. Let's call him Mr. A. He was a bit grumpy at first, which isn't unusual in a hospital setting. I tried to lighten up his mood but it proved difficult. But instead of sticking strictly to the script of professionalism, I decided to try something different. I smiled and asked him about his day, cracked up a little joke to lighten the mood. To my surprise, Mr. A's face softened, and he started to open up. We talked about other things and shared a laugh about something silly. It was a small moment, but it felt like we were just two people having a genuine conversation, not just nurse and patient. That experience made me realize that while professionalism is important, there's also room for kindness and a friendly approach. It doesn't mean crossing boundaries or being too personal; it's about showing that you care and that you're human too. Since then, I've made it a point to bring a little warmth to my interactions with patients. It’s amazing how a simple smile or a few kind words can make a hospital stay a little less intimidating. So I'm curious nurses, What moments or experiences have taught you valuable lessons in nursing? How do you balance professionalism with being approachable? Let's share and learn from each other! #NursingStories #PatientCare #HumanTouch #NursingCommunity

With over 20 years experience as an operating room nurse I can talk and, more importantly, write the lingo. I have written an OR centric blog for 7 years. And I am ready to write for you.
Counting Basics #14, yes, the specimen must be counted * Imagine the leaf was your physical specimen that was dropped during the count, and no one noticed that it was never collected. Imagine you are that patient! Imagine you are that nurse. Know the rules of the OR you are working in. And especially know where the big box of formalin is and STOP USING 10 OF THE LITTLE ONES TO FILL YOUR CONTAINER. DO YOU KNOW HOW BAD THAT IS FOR YOU? * #callnurse #icantbecauseimoncall #workingnurse #writingnurse #dispatchesfromtheeveningshift * https://lnkd.in/eEFf3WiF

I’m so glad when patients come in and ask the reception for Nurse Danah. The reception tells them they need to open a file with the doctor, not the nurse lol. Then they come looking for me to get their daily injection. It truly makes me happy! I was actually eating my meal when I got the call that a patient requested me right away. So, here I come! #Nurse_Life #Patient_Care #Healthcare_Heroes #Daily_Injection #Emergency_Nurse #Critical_Care #Fast_Response #Injections #IV_Therapy #IM_Injections #Emergency_Care #Trauma_Nurse #Patient_Safety #Emergency_Room #ER

As nurses, we are no strangers to advocating for the well-being of our patients. But extending that advocacy to our colleagues — especially in the face of discrimination and bias — is just as important. Being an ally isn’t easy — it requires humility, empathy, and a willingness to listen and learn. It takes courage to use your privilege and platform to amplify the voices of others, especially those who don’t have the same opportunities or visibility. Isn’t that what all nurses (and people) deserve? Join me and the ANA for the April #healthynurse challenge Embracing Allyship to become a better ally in your nursing practice and help create a workplace culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
