It is designed, manufactured and approved to meet and exceed the requirements for applications on all classes of marine vessels and offshore installations. In particular, its proven reliable performance and robust construction have led to it being the instrument of choice in critical applications for superyachts, military vessels and offshore platforms. When considering bilge switches, it can be easy to try and make cost savings by using cheaper instruments, which are often constructed with lower quality and less resilient materials. However, this approach can compromise safety. It can also represent a false economy, as maintenance and replacement costs will always exceed those of installing a sensor that can withstand years of service in difficult environmental conditions, as is the case with the BLS 9200. The all-stainless-steel design of the BLS 9200 with EPR cable means it is resistant to seawater, fuel oil and hydraulic fluid and uses a two-bolt mounting bracket ensuring that installation is quick, simple and secure. The integral switch test level also allows for routine safety tests to be carried out. The BLS 9200 can be tailored to customers’ exact requirements and is why some of the world’s most prestigious superyacht builders have chosen the BLS 9200. It has been supplied to vessels constructed by Amels and Feadship in the Netherlands, Pendennis Shipyard and Oyster Yachts in the UK, and Turquoise Yachts in Turkey. If you would like to find out more about our BLS 9200 Type Approved bilge switch, and how it could be tailored to your vessels, then please visit our website: https://lnkd.in/eMTprz-u You can also email sales@psmmarine.com or call +44 (0) 1444 410040.

Do you have a survey approaching in the near future? Maybe it’s time to think about your refit plans and objectives. - How old is the rig and how far along are you in the manufacturers recommended service schedule for the rig? - What are you trying to achieve from your next rig refit? You can’t book a refit too early. A proper refit of a large sailing yacht’s rig and sails is no small project. Like any refit, the rig refit can turn into a minefield of unexpected and expensive surprises. Just sending much of the rig away will cost thousands. Modern materials also mean special skills. Captains really should start thinking about it at least a year in advance so we can start working with the captain on the requirements and work list…and the numbers. As STP is one the busiest superyacht hubs in the world, please be aware that for large rigs we need to arrange the haul out and space as far in advance as possible. Check out this video of our team in full swing, unstepping the largest aluminium rig in the world a few years ago... Old boats can learn new tricks. In fact, traditional vessels and state-of-the-art technology, including automation, are a perfect fit. Automation brings real-time monitoring and control, safety features, and reliability to vintage vessels. These features can reduce the risk of accidents, increase emergency response times, and ensure safety. The key to successfully equipping a vintage vessel with automation is the team designing and installing the system. Before moving forward with a new system or retrofit, explore your options and conduct due diligence on the team you’re trusting your vessel’s systems with. Rainer DANIEL has compiled the following list based on reliable information. He has not included ships that sank at sea where the exact cause of the fire could not be determined. In 2022, 12 yachts over 24m were destroyed by fire— eight by battery fires. In 2023 the number was 18 over 24m. 15.02.2023 - 25m Overmarine 19.02.2023 - 29m Nakoa 05.03.2023 - 29m Nordhavn 08.03.2023 - 27m Hot Pursuit - fire 22.03.2023 - 76m Petrel 31.03.2023 - 27m Gemini 06.04.2023 - 28m Astor 15.07.2023 - 38m Time 12.08.2023 - 28m Irmao - fire 16.08.2023 - 24m Dea Tuda 04.09.2023 - 28m Andiamo - fire 09.10.2023 - 46m Navis One - fire 16.10.2023 - 28m Self Made - fire 16.10.2023 - 56m Australia 21.10.2023 - 33m Ricacha 23.10.2023 - 28m Code 02.11.2023 - 33m Optimus + 13 vessels/yachts have been involved - fire 06.11.2023 - 28m Pastime 15.05.2023 - Damen shipyard Antalya - fire 25.06.2023 - Versilia Supply Service - fire 28.06.2023 - Lürssen shipyard Lemwerder - fire In 2024, the number of destroyed yachts will likely reach a new record. Here, too, the batteries of watertoys are increasingly the cause of the fire or were an accelerant. It is not without reason that the MGN 681 guideline has been mandatory for new builds over 500 GT since July of this year. Unfortunately, the guideline does not reflect the actual risks, as it is based on a completely unsuitable standard (EN 14470 standard for "Safety cabinets for flammable liquids") that has absolutely nothing to do with lithium-ion batteries and, in my opinion, misleads people into buying products that will never survive a hydrogen explosion in the event of a thermal runaway. Urgent action is needed here, as it is about protecting people, animals, ships, and the environment. But water toys have also become indispensable on smaller yachts. However, the safety standards are lower and the crews are not trained so well. #superyacht #yacht #sailingyacht #safetyonboard #watertoys #lithiumionbattery #lithiumbatteries #captain #chiefofficer #safetyofficer #chiefengineer #secondofficer #lithium #battery #efoil #seabob #crew #charter #marina #familyoffice #raclan #raclanbox #raclansquarebox #uhnwi #rambss #certifiedsafety #tested #fireprotection #explosionprotection #toxinfilert #hydrofluoricacid #extinguisher #mgn681 #staysafe #insurance #surveyor

Veterans Liaison/Aliya Health Group/Solving homelessness & addiction: one intrinsically valuable veteran at a time” 🇺🇸
🌊 Spotlight on the Blue Marlin: A Marvel of Marine Engineering🌊 The Blue Marlin is not just any ship; it’s a semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel, with a unique ability to transport some of the world’s largest structures, including oil rigs and military ships. Registered under the Maltese flag and operated by Dockwise, a subsidiary of Boskalis, the Blue Marlin has been making waves since its construction in 2000. 🚢 Key Specifications: - Length: 224.8 meters - Beam: 63 meters - Gross Tonnage: 51,821 tons - Deadweight: 76,061 tons - Maximum Draft: 13.3 meters (loaded), 29.3 meters (submerged) - Deck Area: 11,227 square meters - Propulsion: MAN B&W 9S90ME-C8 engine (12,640 kW) plus a 2,000 kW bow thruster - Cruising Speed: 14.5 knots - Range: 25,000 nautical miles - Crew Capacity: 60 people, with amenities including a workout room, sauna, and swimming facilities 🔧 Engineering Brilliance: What sets the Blue Marlin apart is its semi-submersible design, which allows it to efficiently load and unload heavy cargo. This is achieved by filling ballast tanks with water, which lowers the deck beneath the waterline. Once the cargo is in position, the water is pumped out, lifting the vessel and its precious cargo back to the surface. 🌍 Notable Operations: The Blue Marlin has been part of some significant missions, including transporting the damaged USS Cole from Yemen to the United States and relocating the enormous Sea-Based X-Band Radar from Texas to Alaska. In 2003, the vessel underwent significant upgrades, boosting its capacity and maneuverability with the addition of two retractable propulsors. For those fascinated by maritime engineering and the feats accomplished by vessels like the Blue Marlin, it’s worth diving deeper into the details of its operations and the vital role it plays in global logistics. 🔗 [Learn more about the *Blue Marlin*](https://lnkd.in/gr8nYXR4) #MarineEngineering #HeavyLiftVessel #BlueMarlin #MaritimeInnovation
