Cronobacter is a hazard in Powdered Infant Formula (PIF) products that is hard to detect due to localized and low-level contamination. In the August 2023 Journal of Food Protection article, "Simulation Evaluation of Power of Sampling Plans to Detect Cronobacter in Powdered Infant Formula Production," the authors adapted a previously published sampling simulation to PIF sampling and benchmarked industry-relevant sampling plans across numbers of grabs, total sample mass, and sampling patterns. #NEWS EBIC lauds Association of American Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO) for adopting the model ‘Uniform Beneficial Substances Bill’.   The decision of AAPFCO to approve this model bill paves the way for a uniform definition of plant #biostimulants across the USA and provides standardization for labelling. Members approved the landmark model bill unanimously in front of 175 attendees from #fertilizer and #agriculture-related industries and regulatory control from 25 states. President Mark LeBlanc, says, “The importance of a single plant biostimulant label across all 50 states cannot be understated. The regulatory landscape for plant biostimulants can vary considerably across the states and leads to inconsistencies and confusion among producers, consumers, and regulatory bodies. Our model legislation provides a regulatory platform that will be available for states to adopt to provide a consistent path to market for these important new tools.” Find out more about biostimulants: biostimulants.eu
