Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) are a vital level of mental health care that bridge the gap between traditional weekly therapy and inpatient treatment. Here's what you need to know: • IOPs offer structured, frequent sessions (typically 3-5 days a week) while allowing patients to maintain their daily routines. • They provide comprehensive care, including group therapy, individual counseling and sometimes family therapy. • IOPs are beneficial for those needing more support than weekly therapy but don't require 24/7 care. • These programs help manage symptoms, process life events and improve overall functioning. IOPs can be a crucial step in mental health recovery – offering intensive support while promoting independence. Access to behavorial health services in nursung homes has been generally considered inadequate. At CHE, we recognize that best practices in behavioral health in LTC settings requires a "systems-level" approach. To that end, CHE psychologists, clinical social workers, and other qualified mental health specialists work to support not only the resident, but those invested in the resident's care and quality of life, including staff and family caregivers. By working as an essential and integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, the psychologist supports person-centered, individualized treatment recommendations that help maximize positive outcomes and improve the resident's emotional and physical well-being. #BehavioralHealth #NursingHomes #LTC #MentalHealth #QualityOfLife #InterdisciplinaryCare #PersonCenteredCare #behavioralhealthpartner #behavioralhealthprovider #mentalhealthpartner #PositiveOutcomes #EmotionalWellBeing #che #PhysicalWellBeing #readytotalk #readytolisten

Mental Health Communicator. ┃ Founder of Therapy Trust Collective ┃ Copywriter, Clinician, Consultant. ┃ Clinician Advocate.
There are 600,000 therapists in the U.S., and 57.8 million people with mental health conditions. I'm not a mathematician, but doesn't that leave almost 100 clients per clinician? So why are so many therapists still struggling to fill their caseloads? I'm glad you asked! I'm Megan Cornish, and this is a Social Worker Does the Math (TM). First of all, only 55% of people with mental health concerns are seeking help—that’s about 33 million people actively looking for care. Of those 33 million, 58% receive services. That’s about 19 million people who actually get care- because there are so many challenges like insurance limitations, financial issues, and scheduling conflicts. Out of the 19 million people receiving care, 8 million are getting services through community mental health organizations, where 150,000 therapists are working. So, what does that leave? About 11 million people who are looking for therapists for themselves—with about 450,000 therapists available to serve them. That's a much more manageable caseload of 25. What's the best way to make sure your 25 clients find you? Nail your profile. I'll be doing training for Rula therapists here pretty soon. I'm looking forward to talking about all things profile writing! #mentalHealth #therapists #therapy
