As we celebrate Humpal Physical Therapy's 30-year journey, a pivotal aspect often overlooked stands out - the significant role of personalized care in Physical Therapy. Never has this ethos been more critical as practices expand and technology advances. Despite our growth, we've remained committed to a patient-first approach, an aspect that has largely underpinned our success story. For occupational therapists and sports medicine professionals, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on your own company's stance. Are you ensuring that personalized, patient-first care is at the forefront of your strategy, regardless of your company’s size? Large teams and multiple facilities should never dilute the quality of the care provided. Should any uncertainties linger or questions arise, always remember, the insights of an experienced physical therapist can be invaluable in providing clarity and ensuring your service remains as effective as possible. Feel free to reach out to myself, Jim Tomasin, MSPT. Let's work together to enhance the effectiveness of our Physical Therapy services, touching lives and nurturing better health outcomes. #PhysicalTherapy #PatientFirst #OccupationalTherapy #SportsMedicine #PersonalizedCare

We are asking Apparo Academy Occupational Therapist, Samantha Carlson OTR-L, her top 3 things to consistently build a child’s emotional regulation skills. 1. Research has shown that deep breaths and calming activities will help children develop emotional regulation skills. By taking slow inhales and longer exhales, this can immediately impact emotion and cognition by way of the parasympathetic nervous system. The trick is to do it so often that its just part of your routine, not just when a child is dysregulated. 2. Teach children about internal sensations (Interoception) and how to listen to those sensations as a way to find out what our bodies need. The way to teach children is by narrating our own interoception sensations “Oh, I am so hungry, I didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast and now my hands are shaky and my tummy is starting to hurt”. 3. Encourage children to call out dysregulation as it is happening. Modeling is a great way to help your child build emotional awareness, it’s the building block of emotional regulation. If you have a child who may benefit from OT, Speech and/or physical therapy, ask your pediatrician for our referral to Apparo’s outpatient clinic. #peds #makingchildrenready #therapy
