Hand therapy is a crucial form of rehabilitation for patients with conditions affecting their functional use of hands and upper extremities. A certified occupational therapist or certified hand therapist typically performs it. Here’s what hand therapy provides: Treatments without Surgery: Hand therapy helps manage pain and improve function without resorting to surgical procedures. Pain Relief: Whether you’re dealing with recent or chronic pain, hand therapy can help alleviate discomfort. Nerve Rehabilitation: If you’ve experienced a nerve injury, hand therapy assists in sensory re-education, helping you regain feeling. Home Exercise Programs: Therapists design customized exercise routines to enhance movement and strength at home. Remember, consistent effort and participation in therapy sessions are essential for optimal recovery. Assistive devices: These devices are designed to protect joints from stress and create ease during daily activities. Whether arthritic changes are present or not, assistive devices help alleviate the compressive forces naturally placed on the small joints of our fingers while performing tasks like writing or chopping vegetables. They promote independence and reduce pain, making everyday life more manageable for those with hand limitations. #handrehabilitation #handsplinting #handinjury #handsurgery #handtherapy #handtherapist #occupationaltherapy #occupationaltherapist #handcommunity #AOTA #ASHT #ISHT

Can a therapist assistant perform my in-home physical therapy? Absolutely, a therapist assistant can definitely provide in-home physical therapy! 🏋️♀️ They're trained and licensed, just like physical therapists. In the U.S., physical therapists complete a solid education, earn their Doctor of physical therapy degree, and they pass a tough national exam to get licensed. Physical therapist assistants also go through training and exams to be licensed, so they're skilled too. If you need specialized care, like for sports or orthopedics, some therapists do extra training. So, whether it's a therapist or an assistant, they're qualified to help you get moving and feel better in the comfort of your own home…as long as they are licensed. 🏡 Stay active and enjoy your therapy sessions! #injuredatwork #recoverysupport #homecareservices #caringbeeshealthcare #physicalrecovery

Promoting physical activity is one of the most important responsibilities in the PT setting. Movement is health, and movement advocacy and optimization are at the core of our profession. This is why building a consistent and stable professional brand is crucial. We have a strong cultural understanding of the professional brand of orthopedic surgeons, cardiologists, and pediatricians. As physical therapists, we must establish and solidify our own professional identity. The first step is to fully embrace movement science and best practices. The next is to advocate for ourselves and our profession, recognizing the vital role we play in healthcare. Cookie cheers to SLPs and AuDs making an impact in the lives of individuals with all types of communication, hearing, cognitive, and swallowing abilities. #audiology #speechpathology #communicationforall #communicationawareness #spreadtheword #celebrate

Physicians and Direct Primary Care organizations are missing out on a secret weapon... physical therapists. MSK claims across the U.S. constitute a massive percentage of spending, particularly low back and neck pain. The time it takes a family medicine or primary care doc to have their patient seen by an orthopedic specialist can take 1-2 weeks or sometimes longer! Physical therapists often have direct access licenses and can begin evaluating and treating the symptoms prior to an orthopedic specialist visit expediting care and increasing the likelihood of a positive outcome. However, not all PT is created equal. Traditional insurance-based PT is financially incentivized by how many visits the patient attends and how long the patient spends in the clinic. Value-based PT is pay per session and is focused on resolving the symptoms and pathology in the most timely and effective manner. I'm building Renu Health around these fundamental pillars and am definitely open to discussing more or answering any questions! Tagging a few connections!
