Creating Bills and Invoices: Generate bills and invoices from different sources. Utilize templates, bill types, bill sources, and bill cycles. Setting Up Customers: Define customers and their roles, such as bill to, ship to, correspondence, and indirect customers. Using Effective Dates and Addresses: Assign effective dates and addresses for customers. Assign tax certificates and reasons. Using Billing Line Info: Understand how to use billing line info, installment billing, and bill inquiry. Creating Pending Items: Learn how to create pending items. Worksheet Application: Understand how to apply worksheets. Creating Accounting Entries: Learn how to create accounting entries. Process Withholding: Understand how to process withholding. FINANCIAL set-up ACCOUNT CATEGORIES hierarchy Have been an EPICOR consultant for almost 20 years, starting as an EPICOR field consultant. lasting just over 3 years, then mostly an independent. Well... on the VANTAGE platform... the field consultants were directed to establish a suitably defined hierarchy within the Account Categories... beyond the out-of-box default of 20 entries which FRD - Financial Report Designer would leverage to create viable Balance Sheet and Income Statement. Then along came a number of products: Excel Connect, Spreadsheet server, and FP&A (most recently). Over the past few years... I had not truly caught-on why the Account Category structure for my new clients who had their implementation managed by the most well-known providers... had such limited acct-cats! These new clients for me, usually required re-education after a few years using the system due to new-staff or wanted answers requiring a deep-dive EPICOR-spelunking. Additionally, I picked-up a number of Kinetic implementations gone wrong... whereby the Acct-Cat layout was extremely limited. Ah-ha! Feedback from clients... the 'push' had been to 'purchase' these additional financial reporting tools!! Well... the question always lingered in my head: While the additional tools might have benefits... would a better-design with the hierarchy of Account Categories provide the sought-after benefits? ...not requiring the purchase of additional tools?! BINGO!!! IMO - seems keeping the acct-cats at 20 with only Current Assests being the only extended definition of ASSETS... results in clients accepting the push to purchase these additional tool$! What a great marketing strategy!!!!

This past June, during the Oracle Ascend24 Conference, I realized that folks in the Oracle community were unaware of several standard Oracle EBS features, features which are easy to implement and which save lots of time. And most of these features apply to current and older Oracle EBS versions. So I've decided to post these out to the LinkedIn Community, so more folks are aware and hopefully, make their day-to-day tasks a bit easier. First up: Cost Cut-Off Date. Oracle Discrete Costing, for EBS Releases 10.6 onward, allows you to pause your Cost Accounting processing, by setting the Cost Cut-Off Date on your inventory parameters. When you do this, the Inventory and Resource Cost Processors automatically stop creating any Cost Accounting entries from that date onward. Thus, giving you more time at year-end to set your new standard costs or your new average cost labor and material overhead rates.
