Back in 2018, I first started to think about how we could get textbooks sitting unused in a class cupboard in London shared with a cash-strapped school in Yorkshire. After five years of hard graft, School Resources Exchange properly got going last year. While it has been challenging to say the least, it's also pretty amazing to be starting 2024 with a live service that is already being used by and helping hundreds of schools. The focus for this year is simple - help more schools. What we're doing is a no-brainer. It's a free service which can benefit every single school in the UK. The impact of sharing surplus items between schools is a genuine game-changer on so many levels. If you know someone connected to a school - a staff member, parent, governor, etc - be sure to tell them about us as it really could help them out enormously. 👇 The short video explains exactly what we're doing and how the service - a nationwide schools' circular sharing community - can benefit every single school in the UK. #schools #schoofunding #schoolresources #schoolbudgets #circulareconomy #communityimpact #secondaryeducation #primaryeducation #teachers #headteachers #slt #schoolbusinessmanagers
Last year our focus was on launching. This year we're excited to be growing our community and working in partnership with lots more schools. If you know someone who works in a school then be sure to tell them about us.

As a community, we have three goals for the third year together: 1. Increase alignment across all 10 of our grade-levels while preserving agency and increasing efficacy. 2. Trade time triaging for time in classrooms--convincing ourselves to believe that most things not scheduled can wait. 3. As we intentionally say 'no' to a lot of things, we will see what we start the year with through to completion. 🚀 🤞🏼

This photo is borrowed from a post by our eldest’s primary school. It’s of the party banner they put up in one of the classrooms for their ‘100 days’ celebration because yesterday was the 100th day of school for them. The school sent out a message to all the parents informing us that on Wednesday they’d have a 100 days party with special activities all day. The kids were so excited and some dressed up in nicer clothes to mark the day. But it didn’t start there. Since the first day of school in August they’ve talked about this day. They’ve had a calendar with 100 days and ticked off one day every day. In the beginning, our eldest came home and said “Today we’ve gone to school for 24 days”, “Today we’ve gone to school for 50 days”. etc. This small act from the teachers and the continuation of doing it every day built up anticipation and excitement. Looking at the kids during drop-off this week and particularly yesterday, it worked. They were all smiling and bouncing around. There’s a lot we can learn from this regarding work. As human beings, and not the least as employees, consultants and freelancers, we all need to belong, to feel part of something, and to be motivated in our day-to-day. Making sure we have a shared goal to work towards together, that we celebrate when we reach it, and also when we don’t as effort has been put in either way, goes a long way. It’s so simple yet so often forgotten. Here’s to more celebrations, and more defined and shared things to work towards/ on.

School's out for summer - but what does this mean for school aged children who can't drive? ☀ In our latest article, we looked at the ways your local bus benefits you and your community. 🚌 One way your local bus benefits your community is that it provides freedom and independence to those who cannot drive. This means that anyone who doesn't drive, whether that be children, adults, elderly people, or disabled people can still meet up with friends and family, or participate in activities in and around their community. ⛱ What other benefits do you believe the local bus provides to the community? ⬇ Read our latest article here: https://lnkd.in/deArTzgB
