Catch the final episode of the podcast: https://lnkd.in/gzpfStND The conversation centered on the following topics: Charter Change and Local Autonomy: investigates the implications of proposed constitutional amendments on the autonomy of some areas. It seeks to determine whether such amendments would strengthen or weaken the region’s capacity for self-governance. Shift in Balance of Power: analyzes the potential effects of charter change initiatives, including those primarily focused on economic reforms, on the balance of power between the national government and LGUs. It examines whether proposed amendments would lead to greater centralization of authority or further devolution of power to local units. Addressing Local Governance Issues: critically assesses the extent to which previous attempts at constitutional reform in the Philippines have adequately acknowledged and addressed the specific challenges and needs faced by local governments. Improving Local Government Finance and Influence: focuses on identifying and evaluating potential mechanisms for strengthening the financial systems of LGUs and increasing their participation in the formulation of national policies. Necessity of Charter Change for Local Governance Reform: weighs the merits of constitutional amendments as a means to achieve desired improvements in local governance against alternative approaches, such as policy reforms and legislative initiatives, to determine the most effective pathway for reform.

Imagine these discussions being held in the context of developing policies that make sense to our shared common sense, for deploying the tens of trillions in society’s shared savings aggregated into social trusts for provisioning Workforce Pensions and Civil Society Endowments as forever promises of a dignified future as money made to flow into the right enterprises, for their use, for the right purposes and the right times, at the right cost and on the right terms to form the right businesses for forming the right technologies for forming the right choices for forming the right economy for forming a cohesive society and keeping it ongoing in the safety and security of hope for a dignified future quality of life for all. Imagine them beginning in Scotland with a focus on the needs and opportunities of people living in Scotland, but being replicated around the world, to build into a planetary scale discussion with a focus on the needs and opportunities of people living on planet earth.

🚌 About that EU-ESG omnibus (for lack of a better term). Just finished listening to Sophie Robinson-Tillett's last podcast with Real Economy Progress, featuring Andreas Rasche and Richard Gardiner. These are the 3 things that stuck with me, in addition to the extreme levels of volatility that the omnibus seems to have brought on. As with all thing EU, there are many interests groups fighting it off, but my personal view is that this is more akin to a rail track than a road: you can add more stops along the way, but once regulation has been transposed into national law(s), it's a done deal. 🚉
