My client had eight affiliates at one point but just one guy was responsible for 95% of the affiliate sales. Why? The affiliate had used the principles in the program to grow his company from $15 million to $200 million, so his followers trusted what he said. Knowing this, I still agreed to become an affiliate for David H. Lawrence XVII's new course that teaches book authors how to narrate their own book. Look, I know that until I get through the course, apply it and have some results to talk about, all I'm really qualified to do with this right now is make you aware of a great resource. Still, I've already invested a couple hours watching the mini-course videos and what I learned has already changed how I'm going to approach script preparation for another project. Long way to say if you are at all book narration curious, click the link below and watch the first two videos. You will learn a lot! Then let David know what you think with a comment. https://bit.ly/NYOBhb #bookauthors #audiobook

Adult Book Sales Grew 25% In April By Katy Hershberger The Association of American Publishers (AAP) released StatShot sales data for April, reporting $657 million in adult and children’s sales for the month, an increase of 19 percent over last year, when sales reached only $551.5 million — and still strong compared to $629 million in 2022. The strong AAP data comes as Circana Bookscan continues to show renewed strength among consumers, with five consecutive weeks of print sales running ahead of the same period a year ago. For weekly sales ending June 8, Bookscan showed print sales up 3 percent over the same week in 2023. Adult books sold $477 million (up 25 percent from last year), with fiction sales of $261 million and $215 million in nonfiction. Adult hardcovers sold $147 million, up 17.6 percent, with paperbacks up 29.2 percent to $156 million. Notably, digital audio sales surpassed ebooks by a wide margin. Audio rose 57.3 percent to $87.7 million, as ebooks reached $70.6 million, still a 19.8 percent increase compared to a year ago. The overall format distribution for adult books has paperbacks making up 33 percent of sales, with hardcovers at 31 percent, digital audio at 18 percent, and ebooks at 15 percent. Sales for children’s and YA books were $180 million (up 5.6 percent) with fiction sales of $150 million and nonfiction sales of $30 million. Hardcover sales were $65 million, or 36 percent of total sales, and paperbacks sold $81 million, or 45 percent. Ebooks sold $8.2 million (5 percent of total sales) and digital audio sales were $7.3 million (4 percent). The returns rate for the month was 18.8 percent—even with the returns from the same time last year, and slightly higher than 17 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
