Strategic Orchestrator in Operational Leadership | Champion of Innovation & Organizational Empowerment | Board Member with a Heart for Community Advocacy
Retaining a genuine passion and enthusiasm for your work can be a potent driver for achieving true success. When you truly enjoy and feel fulfilled by your work, you are more likely to surpass your expectations. It's important to understand that striving for perfection is not practical and can lead to unnecessary stress. Even though it is easy to say, it isn’t always easy to embrace work that brings us joy. Especially when we sense urgency or need to change. Own and claim your motivation. I’ve worked with many entrepreneurs over the years who struggled to tap into what truly is empowering and motivating for them. They all (me too) became more aware of the role of approval. It can be: > external: from others, that we may accept as true. > internal: from our self talk, what we think our limits are. (BTW, my will and passion seem to strongest at responding to external potential. This is different than what we think of when we hear about tapping into our drive and passion which we regularly hear is ‘always’ internal potential. Both internal will/motivation and external will/motivation can bring success.) When drive and approval are at odds, friction happens. When this occurs, refocus on doing your best and finding your satisfaction in your achievements. This journey of self-discovery and personal growth is! Working through this executive and leadership development are crucial for building and guiding a lasting thriving business. It is strategic work too. Hold on to what motivates you and brings you joy when thinking about change. There is something unique and powerful about joy. What aspect of your work, no matter how small, brings you meaning and happiness? #inspiration #motivation #success #businesstips #smallwins ==== 🌟 Hi, if we haven't met yet, I am Jess. I was inspired by a post the other day on personal development, so thought i would create my own recommendations of books & podcasts I read/listen to. Over the last few years, incorporating daily reading of books and tuning in to podcasts focused on personal development has become a consistent part of my life. The insights gained from these resources have not only enhanced my performance in my current role but also enriched my knowledge base to smash down my personal goals. As I am a Brit in the US market, I hope a few of these may be slightly different 😊 Podcast Recommendations: 🎙️ 1️⃣ "Diary of a CEO" by Steven Bartlett: Steven's raw and unfiltered conversations with top leaders provide an intimate look into their journeys, struggles, and triumphs. My personal favourites are with Will.i.am, Jim Kwik (The Brain Coach), Dr Mindy Pelz (The Miracle Doctor). 2️⃣ "High Performance Podcast" by Jake Humphrey and Professor Damian Hughes: Dive into the minds of high performers from various fields as they share their secrets to success. My personal favourites are with Dan Carter, Ashley Cain, Roxie Nafousi. Book Recommendations: 📚 1️⃣ "Trillion Dollar Coach" by Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg, and Alan Eagle: Delving into the life and teachings of legendary coach Bill Campbell, whose impact extended far beyond the sports arena. This book is a treasure trove of leadership lessons from a coach who mentored Silicon Valley's biggest names. 2️⃣ "Legacy" by James Kerr: About the All Blacks rugby team? "Legacy" unravels the secrets of their success, offering profound lessons in leadership, teamwork, and achieving excellence. Does anyone have any reccomendations of books or podcasts? I'd love to hear them!

“On a few occasions, I was told you just don't have the gravitas, to you know, take on these bigger roles. You do look too young and it's a nice problem to have nowadays, obviously, but in those days it was very difficult. So, you know, obviously, you can't age overnight or make yourself look more, more worldly, but you can obviously work a lot harder on your knowledge and, also importantly on your communication.” Justin Sargent's career has been undeniably exceptional, spanning top cities and diverse industries worldwide. Most recently, he was the global commercial strategy lead at NielsenIQ, a $4 billion leader in information services and he advises Advantage Group International's board and leads his own consulting firm, Justin Sargent Advisory. In this episode, our host, Ria Parikh explores Justin's pivotal career moments, the hurdles he's overcome, and the invaluable lessons he's gathered along his impressive journey. Being agile, advocating for adaptability, and having a willingness to experiment are just a few pointers he mentions for aspiring leaders. Listen along as Justin shares his insights on leadership, strategy, and success in the business world. What’s "Inspirational Journey Of The Best Minds" About? Leadership Development Coach & Trainer | Helping You Lead with Confidence + Thrive Under Pressure | Podcast Host + Transformational Speaker
How much of your self-worth is tied to your job title and achievements? Confession: My job once controlled my happiness, leaving me blaming or lashing out at the wrong people. But over the past few years, it's become clear to me that when we anchor our self-worth to external accolades like titles and outcomes, we set ourselves up for a never-ending chase where 'enough' is always out of reach. Harsh truths: Maybe it's you, not them. Connecting your self-worth to a title or outcome doesn't just mess with your head—it impacts everyone around you, especially in leadership roles. Here's how: 👉🏿 Increased Stress and Burnout. The relentless pursuit of external validation is a one-way ticket to stress, exhaustion, and burnout. 👉🏿 Micromanagement: Leaders who tie their self-worth to outcomes may micromanage their teams to ensure success, stifling creativity and autonomy. 👉🏿 Lack of Empathy: Focusing solely on results can prevent leaders from overlooking their team members' personal and professional needs. (This used to be me; I'm better now -:). Empathy gets tossed out the window. 👉🏿 Unethical Practices: The pressure to achieve can sometimes lead to unethical behavior, compromising integrity and trust with colleagues, clients, etc. What would you add to this list? And what steps are you taking to make sure your self-worth isn't solely tied to your professional achievements? In my latest podcast episode, I share five specific actions I took to stop relating my worth to my work and regain control of my life.

The Bill Belichick of Brain Training | Mindset Coach for Leaders, Entrepreneurs and Coaches | 17+ Years Coaching in Business & Sport
3,237 athletes. 402 business leaders. 63 fellow coaches. A total of 3,702 (and counting). That’s how many clients I’ve supported in group training and 1-on-1 programs over the past 17 years. It doesn’t include the keynotes. Or the networking events. Or the podcasts. But I’ve worked with a LOT of folks. And along the way I have learned a LOT about how we humans operate. The joys. The fears. The desires. The regrets. The triumphs. The challenges. I've been so fortunate to see what happens when clients: -become aware of their mindset -START working with their brain -STOP being blindly run by it I also experienced this shift myself in my 20s. The result? Better health. Better performance. Better relationships. Better quality of life. Here’s what I know: 1. What I know can TRULY help people improve the quality of their lives. 2. People need this knowledge and support now more than ever. 3. I want to help as many people as I can. As a result, I’m thinking of creating a guide that shows you how to: -Understand your brain. -Disrupt the auto-pilot decisions that are keeping you stuck. -Create a healthy, sustainable relationship between you and your mind. If you’d like a copy when it’s ready, comment ‘BETTER.’ (Or DM me 'BETTER' if you’d prefer). Thanks, and happy leading folks!
